Default This was supposed to be my first stripper only weekend ......flight benefits rant

Some of you know that I only dance when I travel for my day job ( and admittedly .... I haven't done much dancing .... mostly I go audition everywhere and hunt for the "perfect" club which I've now established doesn't exist). This weekend was supposed to be my FIRST STRIPPER ONLY trip ( traveling just to dance, not having to carry stuff for my day job ) .

The lady that rents my townhome put me on her flight benefits in exchange for a rent reduction ( $175 off ) . She take amazing care of it, but the benefits aren't working as well as I'd hoped. I'm breaking even, but I thought it would work even better and I'm bummed.

I get anywhere her airline goes. She was supposed to get me a vouchers last MONTH so I could use a different airline and get where I want to go now ( Denver ). Well .... supposedly the voucher came in her name. Things have taken forever in general and I'm so frustrated.

    Still no vouchers.

Paying for a flight will take such a huge chunks of earnings. I can only get away for a few days without raising suspicion ( no one here knows I dance ) , so it's not like I can just work 4-5 days straight. I need to follow a similar schedule to my day job.

Not a huge deal. I just hate it when things don't work out my way. ;(

There is club 91 in Pocatello that I could drive to and also rock springs that I could drive to, but I think those are both too close for my comfort still. I also don't want to lie about where I am to anyone ( what I'm doing exactly maybe, but not where I am ).

So .... Just whining basically... but are any SW's familiar with flight benefits ? I have some specific questions and just don't my post to be too long.

I'm not an expert, but I had an aunt that worked for Continental her whole life (she's retired now). The way the benefits worked was that she and her immediate family could fly for free and would also get buddy passes-you would only get a certain amount of them every year and you could give them to anyone. I know that's pretty general. Does that help at all?

I'm listed as her significant other, so I have the benefits. If you are married, it's your spouse. If you are unmarried, it's whoever you pick.

She told me that I could use other airlines as well ( $30 for the voucher plus taxes ). Denver would be around $60 to get there today instead of $250.

It's 10:30 a.m. and I was hoping to be driving the airport by Noon and have plently of time to rest / stripperfy in Denver.

Basically .... she got the townhome because of her offer to add me to the flight benefits. Since I travel 3 times a month ( almost every weekend ) , so they are worth about $775 to me a month. I give her the rent reduction of $175 and I'm ahead $600 a month. That math only works IF I can get where I want to go.

Her benefits will get me to San Francisco for free. Maybe I'll just go there and play the stupid scheduling games. I'll be there the next two weekends anyway. I just wanted to try Denver first. I'm eager to find a home club to keep returning to.

The places I can get direct flights for free are:
Vegas ( way too scared to dance here , plus they license) ,
San Francisco ( stupid scheduling rules, but maybe I'll deal with it ) ,
    and So-Cal ( no ) .

Oh, I don't know then. But if you're listed as her SO and have been using her benefits thus far, I wonder why it's an issue. Hmmmm. Well, damn I'm no help...

She said the vouchers for Denver came in her name . It's just been one thing after another and I was being really good about this, but I think she isn't following through on things. I feel stuck because I don't want to be too demanding and piss her off. I still want the benefits.

I have access to non revenue buddy passes and used to use them all the time for dancing trips. I had to fly standby but I also usually got to fly first class. Saved me a lot of money.

However, the past couple years, they pack flights so full that I would constantly get bumped and stranded over night at the airport or had to fly weird long routes to get to my destination.

I'm not sure your vouchers are the same thing as a non-rev pass but, imo they're not worth it anymore. Now, I only use them to fly international or routes that are less popular. Flights are just too full and constantly getting bumped is so nerve racking. If you have to fly standby with your vouchers be prepared that your time constraints are totally up in the air.

Are these Delta benefits? Mine are. The big question is do have to fly standby to be able to use them? If so the routes you're a interested in are usually over sold already.

it seems like she is not working very hard to get you the vouchers, especially since she is already enjoying her monthly rent discount. there is just no incentive for her to get them to you anymore. if the vouchers are more important to you than the free flights from her own airline, i suggest you tell her that. and then tell her that if she doesnt get you the vouchers, then she will not be getting her discount. watch how hard she'll work for them.

    hope it works out.

^^ Good advice , but she's moving out on June 1 . I'm probably just going to live there instead of renting it out. I already put me foot down previously and asked for the full rent last month. She gave it to me. She really did get the place because of the flight stuff. I am living in my apartment and she is living in my townhome ! I thought it would be worth it , but it's hasn't been. Oh well.

Dangerous : It's with jetblue. If it was with Delta , I could get to Denver. I've flown 12 times so far using the benefits and the only time I didn't have good odds of getting on the plane was on Easter , so I had to get home another way. I knew by calling before I left to airport exactly how many seats were open and how many standby people there were , so I just didin't even go.

I always book a backup flight with southwest. I get a full refund with them if I don't use it . They were my airline of choice before this jetblue thing.

You might want to try JB for your Vegas trips occasionally. Book well in advance and get there for $150 round trip . JB has tv's and satelitte radio too - I just zone out during those flights and it makes the travel a lot less awful.

I don't think I'm going to Denver now. I would have to make $450 a night after tip outs to even clear $500 from the trip without that voucher. I could just stay here and get stuff done at my day job without the pressure. If I did all the work and didn't make at least $500 I think I'd be a nervous mess and in tears. I haven't even worked a full weekend as a dancer yet and wanted to get it out of my system and see what I could make. I was hoping to make a higher money goal than $500, but without the voucher, chances are looking pretty damn slim. I'm going to try and make the best of this by hustling hard this weekend at my other gig.

    ^^^

You're new to dancing right? Why not just set your goal to make back the money you spend on the trip and to get your feet wet and learn how things work?

I know that doesn't sound ultra exciting but I think it'd be really good for you
