Thumbs up Get me to the club!

(*Sigh* I'm having serious issues with actually calling some clubs to set up an audition, and now I think I'm just making myself crazy over it. I know that its just a phone call and that I don't have anything to be worried about, but I just can't make myself do it. Maybe it's because I *hate* talking on the phone, but I have to call first because the nearest clubs are a bit of a long drive away.

Now I'm just really frustrating myself because I'm sitting home on my (very) broke ass and not doing anything!

    Any tips/advice girls?

just do it! you will feel really good once the phone call is over and you will be wondering what you were worrying about all along. i hate talking on the phone as well! anyway, if u think about it, the call is totally anonymous i mean they have no idea who they are talking to until you actually get there so just go for it!!!

Don't be like me and overanalyze the hell out of dancing. Try to just go.

Did you GO ? Get in there ! A personal visit might actually be better than calling. Managers seemed to not be too willing to talk on the phone ( because they want to SEE you .... ).

I call around extensively because I only dance when I travel and it's crucial to not waste on evening somewhere if I don't have a chance of being able to work THAT night ( I clear the most money if my day job is already paying for my hotel ) . If I danced locally , I would just go.

So I called, yay!!! And it was SO not anything to get worked up about, I'm such a ditz!

The first club I called, I spoke to an older woman who was so sweet and told me I could stop by the club any afternoon for an interview, and if they like me I can start working right away. I don't have to get up on stage for an audition or do their amateur night or anything *phew!*

The second club told me they didn't usually hire dancers with no previous experience, but I was like "but what if I wanted to audition anyways?!" and the guy laughed and went to speak to someone else and then told me to call tomorrow night to speak to the woman in charge of the dancers day-to-day. He was really nice too!

The third/last club I called was a bit more sketchy, but I expected that as its not as big or classy as the first two clubs. I could barely hear the girl over the music in the background and when I asked to audition she told me to stop by sometime and then said that the manager is always in at 11am in case people want to audition. I think I might call again tomorrow and double-check that though.

So yeah...one step closer! I think I might go to the clubs either Friday or early next week.

Way to go! Seriously, just go in and do it. Once you work your first shift, you're going to feel exactly like you did once you got off the phone. Good luck and keep us posted

I just wanted to say that definitely call the sketchy club again. I called one club on 3 separate occasions asking the same damn thing and got 3 different answers! Then when I actually went there last night I got a 4th different answer! Some people just don't give a fuck, and I suspect others don't want new chicks getting hired...

I remember calling up my club, I was so nervous, more so than actually driving to my audition! Take a deep breath relax, and think rationaly! They wont turn down an audition, so what do you have to lose?

    Tonight is the night!

Last night my ex and I drove to the club I wanted to work at so I could speak to the manager, interview etc (my ex sat in reception waiting to see if I got the job..."waitressing" lol!). It was SO not as nerve-wracking as I thought it would be. The hiring manager came in, gave me the once-over, and was like "ok, well come back tomorrow around 7, the guy that handles the dancer's will be here and he has the final say" So I was like erm....ok and I maybe looked a bit nervous, because then he grinned and was like "he's gonna put you to work right away, bring your stuff". So yay!!!

We make our own hours there so I think I'm gonna work from 7-12/1, so I'm not dead on my feet by the end. Plus that way I can get a ride home instead of taking the train.

I'm not terrified, but I'm pretty damn nervous! I just hope someone at least lets me know the basics of club rules, talks to me etc - I'm scared I'm just gonna get dropped right in the lions den! But at least I have my Hustle Hut skills!!
