    Default Ugh feel like tard - modeling

    So I signed up w/OMP and got some requests for TFP/CD and paid. One request stood out, but my paranoia got the best of me. Many offers I dismissed right off the bat, but this one I thought about, ultimately deciding not to take since the dude wouldn't lemme bring a chaperone. He was willing to pay me $38 an hour for 4 hrs, which honestly is great to me, b/c I have only done 1 photoshoot ever.

    I told him no, and he wrote back saying not to respond to prof work, etc. I then started looking at agencies in the area (I was trying to avoid going through them at first), and was reading how he's a photographer for MY OLD AGENCY! UGH!! I feel so dumb telling him no now.

    Dude... I had that happen and I couldn't give a shit. The SAME EXACT story happened to me (even where he turned out to be a photographer for an agency)... and he still gives me the creeps. ALWAYS BE ALLOWED A CHAPERONE.

    Hrm...so a chaperone should always be allowed? That's not considered unprofessional? I'm pretty new to finding jobs on my own..and the whole business in general. I didn't do much with the last agency except promo jobs...not technically camera time.

    You should always have a chaperon with you especially when it's your first time meeting with a photographer. It doesn't matter if the photographer works with the "agency" because it's still YOUR safety that should be considered first.

    The problem is, many models bring their boyfriends ( who may have issues with the models nudity)/distracting girlfriends, friends that steal off the photog....

    So some photographers flat out ban escorts from photoshoots. Can't say I blame them. At the same time they need to realise that any model with a half a brain is going to bring an escort to a first time shoot with a new photographer.

    I have never and would never arrive at a first time shoot with a new photog. without an escort. However...
    I stress to all photographers that my escort is a paid professional who knows how to stay out of the way, shut up and doesn't distract me. I even can provide references to attest to that.

    So it's a hard spot to be in, but absolutly, go to shoots with an escort. Always.

    I prefer to work with models who don't bring boyfriends. But it's their right to do so. We'll both each work with someone else and we're each more comfortable with.

    And just because I don't care for boyfriends at the shoot doesn't mean I have bad intentions. I've never acted improperly with a model, nor have any of the photographers in my little local peer group.

    It's your comfort level. Stick with it.

    theres a big difference between having a chaperone there and a chaperone in the same room as the shoot. as long as one is int he vicinity thats what matters to me.

    ^ See, if a Photographer tells me that the shoot is in a hotel room, but my chaperone must wait outside, I decline the shoot. I don't feel protected if he's locked outside the room. Now, If I'm in a studio and he is asked to wait in the waiting area, I will do that, as long as my chaperone is allowed in the studio at fist until I get a feel for the situation.
    If I'm shooting on location somewhere outdoors, My chaperone remains in the gerneral area.

    Chaperon != boyfriend.

    We'll both be happier working with someone else.
