    Default Vino

I'm just curious about what kinds of wine everyone drinks. I don't have many friends who like wine, but I always have some at home. I'm also not very schooled in the varieties and what you're supposed to eat with them and all that (I would love to take a class), but I still love it! Right now, I can't leave the grocery store without picking up a California White Zin. What do you like?!

These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?

White Zin isn't wine, it's Kool-Aid for young adults!

I drink red at home and white in public, because red turns my mouth purple. I love syrah/shiraz wines, and blends. For whites I like the dry, less acidic ones like pinot grigio and sauvignon blanc. I'm a big fan of Australian wines (I was even before living there; they makes some awesome wine down under).

I don't like sweet wine at all, except the occasional after-dinner port.

^ Yek is right about White Zin. I guarantee that if you keep enjoying the Vino regularly , you'll only drink it when it's free somewhere .

I go to Northern CA regularly and get my supply from there , so I'll often taste before I buy it. If you like White Zin and want to try something a little more grown up, try the Rouge Gamay from V. Sattui ( Napa Valley ). It's still one of those pretty pink wines ( grape skins are removed from the batch early, so it tastes soft ) . It's just made from a different grape ( Gamay instead of Zinfandel ) . The sugar content isn't quite as high with this one, so it tastes more "wine" instead of "punch".

So ... pairings I'm into right now:
Chardonnay with Gouda cheese or crab cakes.
    P. Noir or other soft reds with meats cooked the way I like ( heavily seasoned chicken , pork ).

I try to stay away from a lot of red wine because of it's teeth staining abilities.
Not too into dessert wines, but there is a port I like from Livermore CA ( white crane ) .

    A wine blog I like: http://basicjuice.blogs.com/basicjuice
Beau is here in Salt Lake and writes reveiws in an easy to understand , non-snobby way.

Yup - I hate that my teeth turn purple too. But merlot's and cabernet's are my faves.

I was never into Zin's either.

I am so into Pinot Noir now. And I forgot the latest one I tried.

Well, I have to pick up another bottle so I'll find out. At least I know what the label looks like!

Actually I like whites too. I forget the names since I usually drink red.

Australian Shirazes are definitely delightful to me..... I'm also a big fan of Pinot Noir and maybe a Cab blend here and there.

I also love love love Chianiti, but that's really dry and is an aquired taste.

White zin is so nasty! yuck! A true zin is great, though.

I used to pour in a wine bar.

I love medium to full-bodied reds, don't like most whites, with the exception of bordeaux. Sangiovese is a fave. I use a cab-merlot blend in my pasta sauce. haha

Unfortunately, I have to buy special stuff because I get migraines from the sulfites. :-(

This is very me. Except I drink red everywhere. I may be biased because I'm from southern (Not south) Australia but we have some awesome shiraz's especially.
My fav's are usually pinot noirs, I'm definately a red drinker but if the mood strikes me I enjoy a nice light dry pinot grigio, never sweet though, ick.
Something with a light colour and good legs is nice, with berry and pepper flavours.

Basically I'll drink most any red, I'm one of those awful people that knows my fair share about wine and have very expensive taste but will still drink your finest boxed please. I've recently been enjoying the 'french rabbit' pinot noir and 'the naked grape' unoaked shiraz, both cheap and tasty.

    I love wine
