I moved from CA to NY back in September, and have stayed in contact with a few of my regular customers in case they happen to come to NYC or want to come see me.
One just emailed me (he's the sweetest guy and was always really supportive of my goals, etc., would never try anything on me) saying that he's been thinking about me and would like to fly me out to Las Vegas for a day or so, not to do ANYTHING, but to just go to dinner and see a show or something.
He doesn't want anything out of it, and didn't mention anything about money except to say that he'll pay for everything (a separate room for me, my plane ticket, etc).
However, I really don't see how I could just go there for free, especially when my "companionship" is what I'm paid for!
My question is: how do I say this in a nice way? Do I tell him that I charge for this kind of thing? And if so, how much? I don't want to hurt his feelings or insult him, but I'm really not inclined to fly across the country without compensation.
