Default I thought that jojoba oil was supposed to be scentless

I bought a bottle of jojoba oil, which was claimed to be unscented. However, there is a slight nutty smell that sometimes permeates things. For example, I applied it to my face while wearing a stretchy headband. Some got on the headband. I noticed that it started smelling like my hair does when I've gone too long without washing it. I threw the headband in the wash, but the greasy hair smell is still there. It's not really strong, but I'm self-conscious about smelling like unwashed hair.

Would you ladies mind smelling your jojoba oil and telling me if there's a slight scent that kind of smells like greasy hair or nuts?

If there is a scent, I'd like to cover it up a bit by adding essential oils. What oils would be good. I like tea tree oil, but I don't want anything that drys my hair.

yip it does have a smell kinda like nuts.
if you are using it on your face i would use lavender if you have an oily or combination skin or rose oil if dry, cammomile for sensitive,
these sre just the basics, there are heaps of oils you could use depending on your skin type, where you will be using it and what scent you like.
i recommend smelling the oils first if possible if you dont like the scent its no good for your skin

    I just read on Wikipedia:

Unrefined jojoba oil appears as a clear golden liquid at room temperature with a slightly fatty odor. Refined jojoba oil is colorless and odorless.
My bottle of oil is golden, so it's definitely unrefined. However, I have a feeling that the refined stuff has a lot of the good properties removed, kind of like whole wheat bread vs. white bread.

I'm looking for a scented essential oil with some antibacterial and soothing properties, as I have acne and keratonis pilaris.

ok go for lavender and if you can find it (its a new zealand oil but you might find it) kanuka oil or manuka oil they are really healing, anti bacterial and also very hydrating, just because you have an oil/acne prone skin it doesnt mean you dont need moisture. manuka has some amazing healing power. some people love the smell others dont i prefer the manuka smell as i think the kanuka smells like feet but everyone is different.

when you asked us to let you know if our oil smelled like greasy hair or nuts... I nearly spit wine everywhere. Of course, my dirty undersexed mind thought of man nuts. Damn, I can't wait for my man to get home.

Here are some singular notes we sell. Be careful with them though, a dab is all that is needed.http://www.aveda.com/templates/produ...=CATEGORY10582
I also like Aveda's Beautifying Composition and you can use it on the scalp, it contains jojoba oil. http://www.aveda.com/templates/produ...CT_ID=PROD5914

Unrefined oil has more of the nummy goodness in it though it does smell like nuts. Lavender, oil of hyssop, and tea tree are good for your skin. Tea tree is a natural antifungal, as well. It's smell is plenty strong enough to override the nutty smell.

Be careful what you add. Some essential oils (like cinnamon) are not to be applied to the skin or they'll burn you. Take note of any precautions on the bottle.

Greenidlady: Thanks for the product recommendations. $20 for a little bottle of essential oils that I could make in bulk for a fraction of the price? Fuck that! Thank goodness for ingredient lists. I'm going to try to make blends of my own.

Cherry: Thanks again for the recommendations. I'll prolly make different blends for skin and hair. I do check each oil online to look for risks.

On a side note, I must tell you that in the Japanese language, kami means both hair and god. Cherry Sin, Greenidlady, AudreyLeigh, and MiaM are the kami of the kami. Thanks for all of your advice.
