    Default Is Hillary Finished ?

Considering her latest gaffe where she conflated RFK's Assassination with her unwillingness to accept the inevitable will the remaining Super-delegates stampede to Obama ? In the best light, she was NOT calling for or hoping for anything unfortunate or was she ? Was she telling her faithful that: "Anything could happen."

Btw, she told another whopper. Bill DID have the nomination sewn up by June 1992 BEFORE the California primary.

    from Matt Drudge ...

"Hillary says purpose was historical instances of candidates staying in race until late in primaries... In 1968: Dem Race was only 3 months along...

New Hampshire, first in nation, wasn't until March 12. Kennedy didn't even get into running until March 16. By June 4, 1968, date of California primary, there had only been 13 primaries... Kennedy was killed on June 5... "

however, her latest comments certainly aren't playing well with mainstream media pundits ...

(snip)"SICK. Disgusting. And yet revealing. Hillary Clinton is staying in the race in the event some nut kills Barack Obama.

It could happen, but what definitely has happened is that Clinton has killed her own chances of being vice president. She doesn't deserve to be elected dog catcher anywhere now.

Her shocking comment to a South Dakota newspaper might qualify as the dumbest thing ever said in American politics.

Her lame explanation that she brought up the 1968 assassination of Robert Kennedy because his brother Ted's illness was on her mind doesn't cut it. Not even close.

We have seen an X-ray of a very dark soul. One consumed by raw ambition to where the possible assassination of an opponent is something to ponder in a strategic way. Otherwise, why is murder on her mind?

It's like Tanya Harding's kneecapping has come to politics. Only the senator from New York has more lethal fantasies than that nutty skater.

We could have seen it coming, if only we had realized Clinton's thinking could be so cold. She has grown increasingly wild in her imagery lately, invoking everything from slavery to the political killings in Zimbabwe in making her argument for the Florida and Michigan delegations. She claimed to be the victim of sexism, despite winning the votes of white men.

But none of it was moving the nomination needle, with Obama, despite recent dents, still on course to be the victor.

So she kept digging deeper, looking for the magic button. Instead, she pushed the eject button, lifting herself right out of consideration.

Giving voice to such a vile thought is all the more horrible because fears Obama would be killed have been an undercurrent to his astonishing rise. Republican Mike Huckabee made a stupid joke about it recently. Many black Americans have talked of it, reflecting their assumption that racists would never tolerate a black President and that Obama would be taken from them.

Clinton has now fed that fear. She needs a very long vacation. And we need one from her.

Say good night, Hillary. And go away.

The latest is that Hillary has seriously damaged herself among her Senate colleagues. Publicly , they are all saying the "right" things that she didn't mean to suggest that any harm could or should befall Obama. PRIVATELY, many Senators are furious with her for that and many other gaffes plus her savaging of Obama that may jeopardize his chances of winning and the gender-racial split she has helped to create by staying in the race instead of graciously withdrawing.

Her Plan "B" of being Obama's running mate ain't gonna happen and her Plan "C" of being Senate Majority leader has been totally destroyed.

new angle now being pursued ... right out of Al Gore's playbook !

(snip)"(CNN) — Former President Bill Clinton said that Democrats were more likely to lose in November if his wife Hillary Clinton is not the party’s presidential nominee, and suggested some people were trying to “cover this up” and “push and pressure and bully” superdelegates to make up their minds prematurely.

"I can’t believe it. It is just frantic the way they are trying to push and pressure and bully all these superdelegates to come out,” he said at a South Dakota campaign stop Sunday, in remarks first reported by ABC News. “'Oh, this is so terrible: The people they want her. Oh, this is so terrible: She is winning the general election, and he is not. Oh my goodness, we have to cover this up.'""(snip)

and another new angle being pursued, but the news isn't great for Hilary ...

(snip)"In asking that the full delegations be seated, Clinton hopes to narrow Senator Barack Obama's delegate lead and bolster her argument that she may end up with more of the popular vote in the nominating contests - an assertion that the Obama camp disputes.

But the party's legal analysis, contained in a 38-page memo, says the panel can either seat only 50 percent of the delegates or seat them all but give them only half a vote each. Either way, the memo informed the committee, this was "as far as it legally can" go.

Even if Clinton were awarded all the delegates in proportion to her popular vote in the two states, she could not catch Obama's delegate lead. If they are not counted, the Obama camp said, he is within 46 delegates of the 2,026 needed for nomination, and the remaining primaries - on Sunday in Puerto Rico, and on Tuesday in Montana and South Dakota - should move him very close."(snip)

They are elitists who think they know better than the populace that supposedly "elects" them.

All this bullshit is really telling about what the democratic party has become... and it ain't very democratic.

If the people "accidentally" elect the wrong candidate - then the machine is there to "correct the error."

^^^ true ... in terms of the 'people' being the Democratic party's own primary voters at least. However this also smacks of hypocracy big time given the importance assigned to 'every Florida vote being counted' by Al Gore during the 2000 election !!!

In any case, it would appear that the Democratic party leadership i.e. Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Howard Dean, have now 'had it' with Hilary, regardless of how primary voters feel ...

(snip)"By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent
Thu May 29, 6:43 PM ET

WASHINGTON - Top Democratic leaders intend to push for a quick end to the battle for the presidential nomination when primaries are over next week, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday, adding that he, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and party chairman Howard Dean will urge uncommitted delegates to choose sides.

"By this time next week, it will all be over give or take a day," Reid said of the marathon race between the front-running Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Obama is within 44 delegates of clinching the nomination, according to The Associated Press tally, and leads Clinton by roughly 200 delegates.

Reid made his comments in an interview and a speech in San Francisco. He and numerous other Democrats have expressed concern that a protracted nominating campaign could harm the party's chances of winning the White House in the fall. John McCain effectively wrapped up the Republican nomination in March.

Tantalizingly close to the nomination, Obama stands to gain a minimum of roughly 20 delegates in remaining primaries in Puerto Rico, Montana and South Dakota under party rules that distribute them proportional to the popular vote — even if he loses all three. He would need to enlist the support of uncommitted superdelegates to amass the rest."(snip)

They are elitists who think they know better than the populace that supposedly "elects" them.
well the term elitist is open to debate. However, what is NOT open for debate is the fact that the vast majority of Democratic senators / representatives / presidential candidates are personally richer than s#!t. This of course leads to the second great hypocracy, that their calls to raise taxes on the 'rich' actually means increasing taxes on the uber-rich (i.e. themselves and others in similar multi-million dollar circles).

no way. all the repubs i know would crawl across broken glass to vote against hillary. which obama already knows, even if hillary's crazed supporters don't seem to get that. hillary is hated by repubs for being a clinton, not for being a woman, and that in this election would outweigh any racists failing to vote for 'the colored guy'.

    I agree with Mia.

A lot of conservatives are feeling left out in this election cycle because McCain is a RINO. They are searching to find a reason to vote at all. They have a very low opinion of Obama because he is such an empty suit, not because he is black. There is no personal animosity towards him, although might change given his associations.

Hillary is an entirely different thing. People just want that cackling witch to go away. People who hate her more than they like McCain will show up just to vote against her. I have to believe Obama's people realize this.

She's dropping out Saturday. Or suspending her campaign or whatever they want to spin it as. She stayed in this long to do as much damage to Obama as possible, Now the question is whether she damaged Obama enough to cost him the election so she can run in 2012. If Obama wins, she angles for appointment to the Supreme Court. She feels the Dems owe her and not a stinkin VP slot either.

I would like to see Hillary in the Supreme Court. Not as VP. I think the Clintons would be snarky and belittle the Obama camp.

I don't think Hillary really wants the Veep slot and Obama would be nuts to give it to her. First of all, she doesn't help him win any states he wouldn't win on his own. More importantly, she and he don't like each other and Michele can't stand Hillary.. Plus Bill comes as part of the deal and the last thing Obama needs is a loose cannon like Bill second-guessing him and going off the reservation. He doesn't want to have to hire a food taster.

Hillary wants Obama to lose. Obama wants to make a clean break from Bush/Clinton/Bush/Clinton.

What a terrible thing it would be to appoint her to the Supreme Court.

She has never been a judge and hasn't practiced law in decades. Plus she is very agenda-driven and that is not what the Supreme Court is supposed to be about.

I hope Obama picks her and they lose in November and both just go away because they are very bad for this country.

    well, it's official ...

my crystal ball call re Hilary is that she will be expected to campaign heavily for Barack ... specifically to assuage the many Democratic voters who threatened to boycott Obama ... and in return she'll get a payoff of some sort from some Democratic organization to 'forgive' her 30 million dollars worth of campaign debt.

Beyond that, the crystal ball says that the days of 'senior democratic senators' i.e. Teddy Kennedy, Robert Byrd etc. are rapidly drawing to a close. This opens the door for Hilary to slide into that role i.e. an ongoing voice at the national level, but without a direct linkage with day to day running of the country. Hilary can thus 'sit out' Barack's presidential term with a high degree of 'insulation'. This could become an extremely important attribute in 2012, by which time it's very possible that the US economy and 'middle class' American life will be in shambles.

At Hillary's "concession speech" many close observers reported that he looked like he'd been crying.

There is a school of thought that Hillary has NOT given up. That she only "suspended" her campaign. That she is lying in wait in case something goes wrong with Obama and his campaign. Bill was reportedly still calling super-delegates AFTER Hillary conceded.

I think the more likely scenario is that Bill and Hill will go throught the motions of "helping" Obama. If you were Obama would you want Bill cruising the highways and byways campaigning for you ? What's he gonna say - "Vote for the second best ; less experienced ; less electable Dem " ? "Afaik, he's not a Muslim".

Many Clinton insiders report that Hillary's graciousness was fairly genuine. Well, as "genuine" as a two - bit phony like her can be; BUT that Bill is super-pissed at Obama (and his campaign) complaining that they painted him as a "racist". That what Obama REALLY needs to do is sit down with Bill and mend fences. He'll probably do it but it's kind of ridiculous for him to have to help Bill feel better about the results of BILL'S own gaffes and attempts to re-write history.

Before Iowa Hillary was far ahead of Obama among Black voters. Then he clobbered her in South Carolina and Bill couldn't keep his mouth shut- the Jesse Jackson references and other gaffes that inflated Obama's Black support.

The BEST suggestion I've heard was from Chuck Todd ; NBC Political analyst :Send Bill to Kazakhstan.
