Default Bringing a gun to work

Wonder how many of you have a concealed carry license and bring your gun to work? I'm gonna. I am getting my first gun (.38 revolver) for a lot of reasons. On the light side, its gonna be super fun to learn to shoot and join an all women's shooting club. Once I learn to handle it safely, I'm gonna bring it to work with me. It will provide protection when I drive home and it will ease my mind when walking from my car to my front door at 3/4 in the am. If no one carries a gun, I wonder if you practice safety measures when traveling late at night. I would rather be prepared if anything should go wrong.

You need to find out what the laws for carrying concealed are in your state. I don't have my concealed permit but I do know that in Virginia you're not able to take a gun into a restaurant/bar that sells alcohol. So even if I did take mine to work I couldn't bring it in the club.

Take a gun safety course and learn properly if you haven't already.

Are you anticipating getting in a shooting at work or on the freeway? If youre not pepperspray is usually sufficient.

and just so you are aware this kinda makes you look like a troll, not that i am saying you are for sure.

I have never known a dancer to bring a gun to the club. Would you bring a gun to any other job? Probably not.
If you dont feel safe dancing at you club without a gun you should not be there.
I could go on and on.

I would never bring a gun to work. You never know, it could somehow end up in the wrong hands. I keep pepperspray with me in my car though at all times.

I didn't think it was that controversial. I fully intend on practicing my 2nd Amendment rights within the limits of the law. The chances of me getting hit by a drunk driver are greater than a carjacking, which is why I am avoiding a certain section of the interstate. Yea the club is in a wretched area of town. Sorry to offend anyone.

Could you leave it in the car? I personally would NOT feel safe at work if I knew a girl at my club was bringing a GUN into the building, even if she kept it in her locker. There's no way in hell my club would tolerate that if they knew.

Anyway nevermind. I was more concerned with safety when exiting, driving, and from car to home, as we all should be. Yea guns are scary. I was scared of them, which is one of the reasons I am learning to handle one. I'm bringing it to the hospital that I will be working at, too. Parking lots suck, especially in the late hours in the city.

I personally wouldn't take one to work (I don't know, unless I was being seriously stalked or something) - but I understand why you would feel that you want to. Sometimes I get really tired of all those moments of being scared - walking to the car, driving alone at night, even sitting home alone at night sometimes...and wish I had an "equalizer" to predators. I can't even imagine what it would be like to be a guy, and never (realistically) having that underlying fear of sexual predators.

In FL you cant carry into a bar or anywhere with a posted "no weapons" sign even if you have a concealed carry permit.

But I have a 400,000 volt Taser that is legal to carry anywhere since it is classified as a "non lethal weapon" so I have that on me at all times. Has gotten me out of a few sticky situations...once they hear that loud CRACK of the Taser firing, troublemakers scatter.

I am all for 2nd amendment rights, but I also would not feel safe at all if there was another dancer with a gun in the club. Now keeping it in your car is different. That is what I would do. I wouldn't bring it into the club. However, I am seriously going to look into the taser thing, that seems a heck of a lot safer and can still incapacitate someone pretty well.

And you best believe that if I travel to Detroit for a weekend I would be armed if I could. I think some people have a hard time believing just how violent parts of America really is, and fearing for your life everyday can unfortunately be normal here.

I'm curious where you purchased that...and do you need contact with the person for it to work?

I'm pretty sure you can't take a gun into a hospital. Just leave it in your car, if you're really that worried about it then find another club to work at.

I bought mine at a gun show. Yes you need contact for it to work unlike other forms of stun guns(which arent as legal...more restrictions) that shoot out two projectile wires so you can hit someone several feet away.

I don't think she's being all that ridiculous with wanting to keep her gun on her. I have the same theory about weapons as she does, its our right, and we should be free to exercise it. All you girls who said you wouldn't feel safe if another dancer had a gun on them, do you feel the same way about knives and other sort of weapons? Just curious.

Having a pistol under the front seat of your car isn't a bad idea ... however, bringing a pistol into a club / bar serves no positive purpose and creates new risks (like some idiot will steal it, use it, and blame you for it !).

I'm all for the right to carry a gun as long as you have a permit for it, but I wouldn't work at a club that allowed strippers to bring guns to work.

I wouldn't work at a club that allowed them to arm themselves with knives either. I've seen too many drunken, stupid fights.

Bringing a loaded weapon into a club is without a doubt the worse idea possible. There are too many things that could go wrong and the odds are higher that they would happen vs the risk to yourself for not having one. The car is fine, walking to your house at 3 am is fine...but bringing a gun into a place that has too many problem factors to being with is very very dangerous. The clubs if they found out would not allow it (i could only imagine the lawsuit if a dancer shoots someone), also youd be surprised how quickly your own personal attitude would change once you are carrying or know you have a gun close by.
Imagine if some bitch stole your purse?? You run to your locker to threaten the girl you think might have done it.
Youve had one too many drinks...a guy grabs your crotch or says something real degrading to you.
You see a bar fight break out....etc etc

Or like Mel said, what if someone else gets ahold of it and kills someone...it will be on you and you will do time as well.

I am all for protecting yourself but the thought of the girls (or anyone including myself) with a gun inside scares the hell outta me

I would say yes, I do feel the same way about knives. In a lot of ways I would rather be shot to death than stabbed to death! Although I can't say I've ever been shot or stabbed, thank god. However, this quickly gets into the grey area of "anything" can be made into a weapon. Stripper shoes make damn good weapons too! hehe.

The problem with this..like most places..is that the ones most likely to cause problems would be the least likely to be carrying legally....

I would quit the moment I knew a gun was being held by someone in my locker room. I am especially freaked out by guns though.

When I was in HS, a girl at our same-town rival school got shot accidentally at a party by her boyfriends best friend. She died on my friend's kitchen floor b/c they were fooling around with a gun and it went off. They had all the licenses and everything and it still happened. They shouldn't have been messing with a gun, sure, but shit happens.

Have you taken into account that an assailant could just as easily disarm you if you threaten him with a gun? What then? There are also many places where as soon as you pull a gun on anyone (assailant or not) and they respond with lethal force, its considered self-defense on thier part. They won't
    be charged with assaulting you.
Just consider all other methods of self-defense.

Never pull a gun unless you are prepared to use it. Actually..this goes for all weapons. If you are ready and willing to use it(and the situation dictates it)then the likelihood of you being disarmed is slim. If you are going to carry...be well trained on how to use it, what situations to use it in, how to carry it, the laws..etc...etc... It isnt just a matter of buy a gun and stick it in your purse. It would be pretty damn hard for someone to disarm me once I've pulled mine.If I have it out..its loaded and cocked and I'm ready to shoot to kill. Thankfully I havent been put in that situation yet and hope I never am. But if I am...I am extremely well trained to handle it.

I would NOT work at a club where the chicks were bringing in guns.

Bring a gun to a hospital? What the fuck?

Keep that thing in your car.
