    Default Breaking Bad Habits

    Here's my story in summery...

I was tiny my whole teenage years (like <100 lbs) and until I got married at 20. It was all down hill from there and somehow-ok I know how, fast food and no exercise-I went from a 2 to 10 in less then a year. When my marriage ended at 22 I put ALL my time and energy into working out, running 2X a day, weight training at least 4 times a week, pilates, ballet etc. I wore weights on my ankles and arms at my job at a family market and got back down to a 4 which I was comfy with (55 lbs lost!)

I kept it off for almost 2 years, but now that I moved to Vegas with my bf and his two kids I feel like I'm spiriling out of control. Between stress and the crap kids eat (we've compromised on that one, at least he quite gitting them mc donalds and other nasty fast food) like mac and cheese and convience foods, plus working 40 hours at my day job along with dancing I just feel overwhelmed and with all the demands in life right now it's my body thats getting neglected.

Does anyone have any suggestions on quick but effective ways to sneak in exercise daily or what I can do to keep those size 10s stored safely away in the garage. I miss running but bills come first and I just can't make the time. I have no willpower anymore!

why do you have to eat what the kids do? just bc theyre eating mac and cheese etc, you can still eat healthy foods.

also the ankle weights are a good idea! i might start wearing them while i do chores at home...

Your diet sweetie. It isn't a quick fix, but it's so so important, for your weight and your health and happiness. You don't have to go crazy with cooking or anything, but ditch the bad food. Even just switching to a natural food store would help, I don't know if there are big ones in Vegas or not, but I do my shopping that way and you can't help but eat healthier. I absolutely don't cook, but I snack on yogurt and granola, nuts, fruit, carrots, stuff like that.

And if it's the only choice the kids have, they'll eat it too. I do stuff like put frozen vegetables into my girls mac-n-cheese, and it's whole grain mac .
I'm confused, but the Chewbacca Truffle Shuffle cleared it up. - Emily

If you can, take healthy snacks with you to munch on throughout the day. Fast food's easy to get, so when we're tired/stressed, its more convenient to pull up to a drivethru window instead of going home and making something healthier. (Subway does has healthy stuff, though.) With snacks, your energy will stay up and you won't find yourself starving after work and making bad food decisions. You'll also have something nearby so you won't have to get up from your desk or wherever when you're working your 40 hr job.

I read on here in another post that right when someone gets up, she does sets of crunches, pushups, etc. Maybe just try to do 50 crunches/10 pushups...shouldn't take up too much of your time and it's some type of toning exercise.

Do you watch TV with the kids? I think for a 1 hour show, there are like 12 minutes of commercials or something. You can exercise during commercials and the minutes will add up (not sufficient for cardio, though).
