It turns out there less than 15 minutes away from me in the middle of bustling NJ there is a park with:
- Awesome hiking trails that go by cool things like revolutionary war cabins and big old mansions and such
- Incredibly cool twisty turny hilly roads that are as good for driving as any I ever hit in Norcal
- Awesome running and biking paths
- Really cute women biking around in tiny shorts who apparently think dudes driving z4 convertibles are fun to oogle and smile at
- A lake. A fricken lake! Swimming, renting boats, fishing, yadda yadda yadda
- Cool nice cops who don't try to ticket said dudes driving z4 convertibles, but instead smile and are polite and helpful
- A really diverse crowd despite being in one of the more expensive parts of the country
I had no idea this park was so cool even though I've lived here for 4 years. I found such awesome biking trails north of me that I never thought to try south.
Anyone who thinks NJ is ugly needs to get off the damn turnpike. This park, albeit smaller and more populated, was up there with any of the pretty places I've seen in Cali, Argentina, rural Germany, New England...
I should have brought a camera.
What cool things did other people discover with their long weekend?
