i literally shed tears when he died.

As much as I love Eddie Izzard, I can't seem to get into his audio cd's. Something just seems to be missing. Maybe it's the facial expressions or the crazy hand gestures, I dunno. The only ones I seem to think are hilarious are the ones from dvd's I've seen before.
-George Carlin. I particularly like the more recent stuff since his wife died. He's a bitter jaded nasty fuck and that amuses me.
-The old classic Bill Cosby stuff, I used to listen to it in the car with my dad.
-Eddie Murphy. I had the cassettes of the self titled one and "Comedian" and I used to listen to them on my gigantic Walkman and laugh, terrified my folks were gonna find out. Ah, youth.
-Dane Cook. He annoys me at times, and a lot of his fans tend to be extremely douchey...BUT. He can be funny as hell. His enunciation makes me laugh.
-David Cross - "The Pride Is Back"
Plus all the 80's-90's stuff that was mentioned like Judy Tenuda (Who I met one night at 4 am at a Walgreens in Orlando), Denis Leary, Sam Kinison, Bobcat, Etc.

I used to love Russell Peters... still do I guess... but view him VERY differently after meeting and *ahem* partying with him....
He is funny as hell but damn that man is twisted....
I third (or fourth, or fifth) Eddie Izzard of course. If I had to pick only one as my favorite, that'd be it.
Mitch Hedberg was most definitely a gem. Hey Penny - I like escalators. An escalator can never break. It can only become stairs.
Others: Jim Gaffigan (It just doesn't add up! Fruit = good, cake = great; fruitcake = nasty crap.), Mike Birbiglia (Now what I SHOULD have said was nothing . . . ), Brian Regan ("Enjoy the flight, sir." "You too!. Uhh, you, uhh - if you, too, should fly someday, you . . . too.")
If you're talking political comedy, I'm partial to Bill Maher. Lewis Black IF I'm in the mood for him; sometimes he just makes me cranky. And I love George Carlin on this or any other topic.
One I'd add that will definitely seem dated but is totally worth a look: If you've never seen it, check out Whoopi Goldberg's (yes, really) one woman show, in which she plays five different characters. A junkie, a Valley Girl, a little girl, an old Jamaican woman, and a disabled person. Very funny, but also incredible acting. Nice to remember why she first got attention - this was even before her breakout role in "The Color Purple", and LONG before the degeneration into cheap shots like "Sister Act 2" and "Jumpin Jack Flash".
"Before I conceived you, I wanted you. Before you were born, I loved you. Before you were here an hour, I would die for you. This is the miracle of life." -- Maureen Hawkins
"I just can't get over how much babies cry. I really had no idea what I was getting into. To tell you the truth, I thought it would be more like getting a cat." -- Anne Lamott
Love Eddie Izzard. Saw him recently - LMAO
Has anyone seen the show "Last Comic Standing"?
It's pretty funny with some great standup lines!

I always get him mixed up with William Katt...
Also saw Craig Ferguson's appearance at the White House Correspondent's dinner on the news and liked him enough to start DVR'ing his show.
