    My big fat stripper weekend

^ Catch the Big Fat Greek Wedding ref there?

I'm getting so frustrated, its like every time I'm set to head to audition for my first job, something comes up. Now it was going to be Wednesday, but my friend can't drive me, then it was going to be Thursday, but I got signed up for training at my volunteer center. So now it's looking like Friday.

The thing is, my "interview" is during the day and if they like me, I can start right away. But if I work the weekend, I'll be stranded in the city until late Saturday. I'm wondering if I should go ahead and work the Friday and Saturday night ($$$) and crash at a hotel and hope its financially worth it....or I am throwing myself far into the deep-end with the whole making-a-weekend-out-of-it thing? Does it work for you guys when you work and are based at a hotel? D'ya think you could have done it on your first few days?

    Advice is muchos appreciatos ladies!

If you've never danced before, working 2 weekend nights is going to kill you. I also don't think your first shift should be a weekend night, it's so physically demanding and much faster paced than a weekday shift. Don't overdo it.

    No.

Psychologically, I have needed to "muscle up" over time. Honestly, my experience has been positive (I still have happy vibes from last night), but still, I had to acclimate to the environment and to the hustle, which includes immediately rolling from a rejection like it never happened so I can move on to the next customer.

I fully recommend starting on a week day. No need to max yourself out at first, especially back to back weekend nights at a new place while being a newbie.

I know your reschedulings have been frustrating, but why not wait until next week and see what you can set up to give yourself every advantage?

ETA: Maybe if your shifts are only 4-5 hours, then it might not be too taxing. However, would it be worth it to cover your hotel? I myself did not have "newbie luck" and made bad money my first few nights. I guess it depends on your sense of adventure. Make sure you break in your shoes first!

Two nights in a row? You'll be fine. Bring some cans of starbucks espresso and advil if you need it. Also, I think starting on a Friday and a Saturday night is a good idea. It'll be busy and it will give you a taste of money. IMHO it would be harder to start on a weeknight. Good luck! You'll do great.
