When did you have the surgery? Could be side effects from the anesthesia.
Not if you're more than a couple days out though.

Weds morning. They loaded me up with morphine, but I should be over that by now. I'm taking oxycodone....side effects include nausea and hiccups.

The doc also said that the blood that will drain into my stomach will cause some nausea as well.

I had one at the same time as my rhino also. The splint in my nose was the worst part.

Yes, septoplasty, but no, couldn't get my insurance plan to cover rhino, and I don't think my nose needs it and neither did the doc...the second day has just begun, but I feel a hell of a lot better than I did yesterday.

And yes, the splint inside my nose...actually not too bad...I don't have any packing in there, so that's good, although I'm bleeding from my right nostril like a stuck pig.

when i was on oxycodone for my boobs i would get the hiccups alot. the doc said to put a tsp of sugar in your mouth and let it dissolve.IT WORKED very very well!

not sure if it would be a bad idea with the blood in ur tummy from the nose job.id call the doc and ask.

    Agliano.

I think I tried too hard too soon...I went for a light jog the second day after the surgery and then the next morning went to a half-day barbecue in the heat...too much too soon. Now I'm resting up. Still oozing out the right nostril though...kind of a snotty/oozy combo (not to sound gross).

Head Turner, when you had yours done, how long before you weren't stuffed up and feeling blegh? I feel ok today (had it done Weds of last week) but I have splints in my nose and the stuffiness is making me feel like just lying around.

I felt tired and stuffy for a few weeks. Just do what your body is telling u to do - rest.

I may have to have this done. When I look up my nose, it looks like its blocked. I know I probably have polyps in there. It looks like a peeled grape and I have trouble breathing too.

I hate anything in my nose, so I am scared to even go get it checked out.

Just in case you do this, DON'T use Afrain to unblock your nose! The way it works is that it consticts the vessels in your turbinates, causing them to shrink. Once the Afrain wears off, your turbinates become even more engorged with blood to compensate. That is why people get so addicted to the stuff.
Go to the ENT and have them take a look! If this is the problem, it is a WHOLE lot easier to fix than a septoplasty!

    More info on turbinates http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbinate

Thanks Brendita. I figured they might be polyps since some members of my family have them. I also had looked online and it said that polyps look like peeled grapes. I hope you are right, cause I dont want to have to operate on my nose (unless its for a rhinoplasty!)

I am going to make an appt with the ENT just to be sure.

    Thanks for the adivce!!!!

And believe, I dont even put saline in my nose. I hate anything in there!

Thanks for the link too. I am checking it out right now.
