Default Using a "rock" in place of deodorant?

I have heard about some "rock" you can purchase at health food stores to use in place of deodorant. You wet it and then put it underneath your arms. I heard after using it for a while you stop needing to use anything. Anyone know anything about this?

    deoderant crystal!

i love this stuff. i personally use secret and this. this needs no re-application and protects me against stank. however...

it allows the armpit to still sweat... so you are still "wet". and... if you shave your pits and apply... OUCH! it burns!!!

No, you just get it wet and rub it under your arms just like applying deodorant.

Mathew Macognahay (damn I know I effed that up) says that Kate Hudson brings him one whenever they do a movie together. He believes in natural substances and does NOT wear deoderant. He stated this during an interview, and says she always shows up saying "will please shower and rub this on." I thought that was rather humorous. Thats all I know about it.

I'm a science dork and some of the hippies that I hung out with in college used these and they STUNK. They didn't seem to think they smelled, but I had to hold my breath anytime I was working in the lab with my "au naturale" colleagues. It was awful! Just say no to the deodorant rocks, please!

A friend of mine used this and swore that she didnt need to apply daily anymore.

She proceeded to try to force me to smell her pits.

Try it and out let us know how it works.

The secret for it to effectively work is to use it immediately after showering and washing your pits and make sure to apply it liberally. Another bonus is no white streaks on your clothes. I'm a huge fan of the stuff.

I'm not much of a stinker, but these NEVER worked for me, no matter how I used them. I only need to wipe once or twice an 8 hour shift (and I'm a sweater), so I don't know why it works for others and not me.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

I actually use Dove and have found it to be quite effective.

I've tried the deodorant crystal and I wasn't happy with it. You have to apply alot for it to work and it needs to be wet in order to apply it, takes forever to use and it's just not that convenient. It also has no scent, so I never really knew when I needed more until I was funky and it was too late, not good. I sweat so much at work and am always re-applying deodorant, I need something with a scent and this ain't it, not to mention, it really didn't do all that it said it would.

The same thing with Secret Clinical. It's over-priced, in the long-run will excessively dry and irritate your underarm, it flakes, leaves residue no matter how little you use it, and its effectiveness reduces over time. This stuff is a joke.

Coincidentally, I've used everything under the sun and Dove works the best for me right now.

Yeah, I've been using Dove and like it but I want to try the crystal deodorant since it lacks the aluminum.

I use Certain-Dri at night every few nights and Dove in the morning. I have a tendency to sweat through my deodorant all the time (very annoying) and this stops it for the most part.

Weeeelll...the crystal is actually just crystallized alum, so it does include an aluminum salt. I don't think it's known to be at all harmful in that form though. Those crystals take too long to dry for me! I don't want to stand here with my arms up for a full minute
