I just brought home a 4 month old shar-pei mix puppy from the shelter. I named her Cora Belle, she's incredibly cute and sweet, but very shy. I talked to the lady at the shelter and she said Cora is shy until she warms up to you.
I went out this morning and bought her a cute pink dog bed, new toys, the whole shebang. We came home and she went and laid underneath a chair and I just let her be for about an hour so she could adjust. She's very calm and I haven't heard a noise out of her yet! I just went in and was talking to her, and picked her up and carried her over to the dog bed and she laid down and I was petting her for about 10 minutes and talking to her and offered her a toy. As soon as I got up, she went and laid back under the chair.
Should I just let her be, and she'll be social when she is ready or should I keep working with her? She also isn't good on a leash yet so I'll need to work on the leash thing with her.. Any advice?
