Default Post your workout when you were in the BEST SHAPE OF YOUR LIFE

Mine was when I was on the high school swim team. I swam 2-3 hours a day every day after school. I would eat tons of bagels and trail mix too, but nothing would stick.

I like my figure the least when I lift a lot of weights- I put on muscle really quick and I don't like how much it bulks up my frame.

    Others?

Also when I was on swim team. I still had to watch food though, because I put on weight easily and quickly. It sucked. But I LOVED the workout. We did two a days. 2 hours in the am, 2 hours after school. I started when I was 5 (I was an acceptionally early competetive swimmer). I stopped when I was in Jr. High. My parent's couldn't afford it. I was really dissappointed.

Yeah, high school. I played soccer 3 days a week, water polo 3 days a week, PLUS I rode my bike everywhere and worked out a lot at home. I was ripped!

What? Swimming? They couldn't afford swimming? Its one thing if they couldn't afford dance lessons or horseback riding or another really expensive sport but that sux. I am really sorry to hear that.

OK, let's make this about after highschool. Being in shape in HS is easy.

For me it was like 5 years ago. i was taking Dunham technique (dance classes) 4 to 5 hours a week plus I did heavy lifting with weights (5 reps or less, one bodypart a day). I was tiny and in the best shape. I was 27.

I didn't get my license until I was 19, almost 20, so I biked everywhere for transportation and then biked some more for fun. I was in cheerleading in HS, had 2-hour practices twice a week, 3-hour games twice a week, and practiced at home for 20-45 minutes a day just for something to do. And I worked 20 hours a week at a retail job, so I was on my feet all the time.

I also barely ate because I had to buy my own food and clothes, and $50/week didn't go all that far, even then. I lived on fast food and if I brought any groceries home, my family would eat them.

After HS, I was too broke to eat much. *heh* Once I scored a job where I could afford to buy any food I wanted, the pounds started slowly creeping on, but I still averaged about 100 lbs. It was only in the last couple years, after a couple bouts of having to take prednisone, that I ended up gaining enough weight to consider myself over-fat. I'm not HEAVY per se (119) but it's a good 15 lbs heavier than I prefer. I'm losing it though!

I forgot to mention that I was teaching around 20 fitness classes a week at the time too (and still am!).

I was taking public transit. Having only one decent meal a day, and drank nothing but water. I was the smallest I ever could be. 149. Now I'm a whoping 190. But then again my weight has been up and down due to 1 kid, 1 abortion, and a whole lot of stress.

When I was working in liquor stores and was in full blown eating disorder mode. Sling 35lb cases of wine all day while subsisting off "salad" (a bowl of lettuce, a couple baby carrots, and a few cucumber slices) plain rice cakes and diet pop then see what it turns you into! I would load 4 or five cases onto a 2-wheeler which would then weigh a good bit heavier than I was, then run all over massive wine departments unloading. I don't even know how I managed to survive it.

I was soooo skinny and perfect back then!

When I was 33-34. I was really into weight training and gym type stuff. I'd do cardio workouts 6 times a week (on the nights I worked I'd only do 20 minutes of hard cardio. On the nights I didn't work I'd do 90 minutes of moderate cardio). I would weight train 3-5 days a week.

I was rock solid. I must have been eating 3000-4000 calories a day. I felt like I was constantly eating. But damn! I was in some superb condition. I was stronger than many men I knew.

Today, I'd be lucky to be able to do 10 push-ups. I got lazy after I got boobs.

A couple summers ago I ran (see the treadmill work out thread for that routine) from when I woke up till when my mom came home. I'd always tell her I had just started too, so I could get an extra hour in only to have my dad keep checking in on me telling me not to work out for more than an hour....little did he know I was going on 8 be time he got home.

I then would go up stairs and go in my bathroom and dance (like some serious cardio teibo/ glowstick/ gangsta dancing all in one) for a few more hours...take a shower and then go to my room stretch and do crunches.

I ate smoothies with ONLY frozen fruit and water, toasted bread and cheese sandwhich (no butter), water, salads (just dip your fork in the dressing and then pick up the carrots/lettuce. Cuts calories WAY back), water, apples, water melon, more water....oh and more water. There was some other stuff I'd eat too that my mom would make but I cant remember. Stuff like grilled tuna, Tabasco zucchini..

I looked like a bad ass and felt like one too. I wish I had the will power to do that again...

2 years ago. I was a cocktail waitress at the Paris casino in Las Vegas. I walked for 8 hours straight, 5 nights a week at a fast pace, carryign a tray weighing between 20-50lbs.

Every day before work I went to the gym and did 45 minutes-1 hour of cardio, ususally a combo of treadmill and stair climber, then I did a weight training circuit.

My diet was loose, I ate frequently but healthy. Every mornign before the gym I had scrambled eggs and an english muffin. when i got to work I had a bowl of cherrios. for lunch at work i usualyl had a grileld cheese and french fries. I took snacks of string cheese or oatmal to work. I usualy had chocolate milk too. when I came home I had somethign for dinner, usually nto too healthy.

I went from 136 down to 122 lbs in about 3 months and kept it off until I quit that job and went back to dancing. I had nice definition. I started eating unhealthy again, drinkign more, and quit going to the gym completly. I am now back up to 133lbs.

Between the ages of 20 to 23, I competed in women's figure competitions.
My day started with an hour of empty stomach cardio for 60 minutes. I lifted weights 6 days a week (one body part split), and finished weight training with at least another 30 minutes of cardio.

My diet was mostly egg whites + oatmeal, chicken breast + brown rice, and broccoli.

I was irritable, cranky, and tired all of the time. However, my bodyfat was never above 9%...

I could never live like that again, but I miss being so lean and hard.

Uhh, mine is totally unrealistic, but I wish I could be back in school again lol:

Okay, when I was in college getting my BFA in dance, here was an average day:

    9-10 am Ballet Class

    10:30-12:00 Modern

Lunch and regular classes til 3....

    3pm-4:30 Jazz

    5:00-7:00 Rehersals...

Then, at least 2 to three times a week, I would hit Bally's for weight training. Yes I looked like an Olympic Athlete. And the kicker was, it wasn't really a work out to me.... it was my goal, my love, dance. Ah, I miss those days. I ate like a piggy too. 105lbs of solid muscle. Shit. Now I'm 120 lbs of... well...not muscle.. Hehehe!!

Maybe three years ago. Bikram yoga five days a week, dancing at the club three or four nights a week. Ate whatever. Probably weighed around 115 compared to my usual 120, but everything was lean and defined without the bulk that I get if I do too much weight training or incline cardio.

It was only 2 years ago....I wasn't at my skinniest (was anorexic in high school), but I had more muscle than ever. I was 21, 5'4, about 125-130 pounds.

I would run 2-3 miles on a treadmill 5 days a week, then walk 1 mile on an incline of 12.0. I circuit-trained everyday, alternating days with upper and lower body. Add in 500 crunches.

Diet.......at the time, I was a diner waitress, so my diet was something like this:

    -10 strips of bacon
    -sausage patty
-2 pieces of toast extra butter
    -2 cups of soup
-chicken fingers, french fries, whatever else was laying around
    -ice cream sundae
    -grilled chicken
    -lots of water and dietcoke

I'd eat shit like this, everyday constantly for about 8 hours. But I'd also wear a pedometer to work, and that shit would clock in at 8 MILES a shift.

I feel like I'm in the best shape right now.

I go to the gym 4-5 times a week and do a mixture of cardio and strength training. I try to do cardio each time and weights about 2-3 times a week.
I have the benefits of working out with a personal trainer who is a friend of mine ( I pay him in food ). We train together a fair amount. He is into more resistance than weight training which is fun and we never do the same workout twice.
I have great definition in my shoulders and can do pull ups and unassisted body dips which I am super proud of!

I stay away from sugar (my body loves yeast infections) and drink a ton of water.

If I knew 10 years ago what I do now, I wouldn't have been stupid about my workouts in college when I spent a ridiculous amount of time at the gym doing lord knows what!

I had a job peeling logs at a sawmill. So I'd ride my bike like 10 miles out of town up these crazy hills, and then peel logs like crazy (it was hard work, and I got paid by the foot), and then hop on my bike and ride back to town. I mostly ate beer and cheese fries, but I was in amazing shape.

In my early 30's...I was very much a "kept women" and went to the gym with a top-notch trainer 3 days a week for several hours...home to relax or out to shop...then back at the gym or Tae Kwon Do classes in the evening,I only had to "be at home" 2-3 nights a week when he was there and the rest of the time,my energies were my own and money didn't matter.

I ate whatever, whenever and looked so amazing! 5'10" maybe 130 or so but major boobys and booty!

I truly think it was a combination of physical workouts and totally not having to stress about anything back then...

So basically the answer to getting a perfect body is:

Endless amounts of physical activity. Inadequate diet optional.
