Try not to worry... there's always someone who is more nervous than you.

Go in and start making that money.

Once you get there you'll probably see that you are ok and that you can carry on. When I first stated, I wasn't scared until the very movement I had to go on stage. The I just forced myself to go on that way the "sink or swim " response kicked in and I thought "if I suck, I suck but I should give this my all. " Then I got tipped like $35, on stage, in a small ass club with few customer there, just for auditioning. If you don't try you'll never know, you could do awesome and have a great night but you wouldn't know if you don't try. Use that as a point to talk to customers. Tell them ( choose wisely) you are new and a little nervous on stage and they might tip you on stage, which might make others do so. Good Luck

All I can tell you is suck it up and do it. Once you are on the stage for the first time, it gets easier.

It sounds like you REALLY dont want to be doing this. If you dont..I dont recommend it. It takes a tough, thick skin to survive in this business.

That said..go in and try..but keep in mind that this isnt like any other job. If at any time you decide you cant handle it and dont want to keep doing it...you just get dressed and walk out.

I felt the same way, I actually posted about wether or not to go (Boyfriend Problems), but the girls on here were so helpful. Hope you had a great time, and got your job! But like CKXXX said, It's not for everyone, do waht you feel comfortable with, and only that!

If you really don't want to do it, then don't do it. This is a tough job and not everybody is cut out for it. However, you may audition and absolutely love it. The hardest part is getting up on stage that first time, after that it gets so much easier. Good luck!

Just don't be too hard on yourself and take it all in as a learning experience. I'm sure you'll do fine!

Well, I did it and I cannot believe that I did. I was terrified, it felt like forever, and the club was DEAD so I got tipped like $7 during my time on stage and I felt like that $ was just from ppl who must have felt sorry for me. I just did NOT like the club, could tell immediately I would make no money there. Wrong clientel, not what I was expecting. The general manager took me aside & said that I did not belong in a club of this class, he told me I could make a killing in a club his friend owns. Which is a VERY prestigous, high-brow club. He even said he could get me a job as a bartender or waitress there and guaranteed I'd make about $700 a night (strippers still make way more... this club is out of this world) so I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!! I probably sound stupid but he was making me feel like I would owe him for getting me the "in" that is so impossible to get which I am uncomfortable with... but the money is SO tempting... I hope I don't sound shallow!!!!
Oh and thanks SO MUCH everyone for your replies!!!

Was he touching you inappropriately while he told you? What made it seem like you'd owe him something? Ew.

I say if it is safe to accept the position, start with the waitressing job. Then if you think you could increase your income and begin to feel more comfortable, try dancing again. A lot of girls start of waitressing to get used to the environment.

I started out as a waitress for exactly the same reasons. I wanted to get a feel for the environment, figure out how things worked and to see if dancing was something I really wanted to do. I lasted all of a month and haven't turned back since.

Going on stage for the first time was still terrifying though! Oddly enough, I had no problem talking to custies and doing lapdances. Probably because it was more intimate and I didn't have an entire room of strange men looking at me nekkid-yanno?

It doesn't take long to get over stage fright though. You already did it once, and once you begin to feel more comfortable and confident it'll be a breeze.

Seriously? $700 a night waitressing?? Most strippers, even in the biggest clubs, arent making that anymore. Sounds a bit too good to be true..sorry to burst your bubble. But doesnt hurt to try.

Where are you? The girls here that are in your area,or even work in the particular clubs you are looking at, will be able to give you a fair idea of what to expect both work and money-wise.

I know. If I could make $700 a night being a waitress and keep my clothes on, I would so be there! I wanna know where she's at too.

And yeah, I was terrified when I started dancing. I cried during my first audition, that's how scared I was, but I made it through it and I'm still going strong. The first time's the worst time.
