Are you trying to be inflamatory? I think it's pretty obvious something like this may not be well recieved in a forum dominated by women with very liberal views. It would be like me going to my mommy board and praising pro-choice and stem-cell research. I love some of the women there, but recognize my views vary greatly from theirs and therefore do not try to stir up trouble by waving my beliefs in their face like a red flag.

I am very proud of everyone for keeping this thread civil.

I don't even know what to say... I think everyone else has done it for me.

Although I will add that I find it ironic a stripper would post a sermon that's anti-porn...

It has even been fought and won that Christmas Nativity scenes cannot be displayed on government property:
    Lynch v. Donnelly

    and school prayer:
    Engel v. Vitale

Hinrichs v. Bosma concluded that, while it is constitutional to begin a legislative session with an invocation,it cannot be of any specific religion: " the use of religious invocations to begin legislative sessions is both constitutional and in accord with longstanding national practice, such prayer must be non-sectarian in nature. "

    there are more,but I'm tired

This is a traditional view vs. modern view. Here is the 1st amendment:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

And by Executive Order, a President (Ike IIRC) made a pastor speaking about politics enough to have the church lose it's tax-exempt status. Ohh, only if it is a conservative church.

And as the Interstate Commerce Clause has been abused, so have many other provisions of the Constitution.

Not to mention a few years ago, the leader of the ACLU stated that their stance on the separation of church and state, is to get to the point where a fire truck could not go to a church to put out a fire.

We can't have a nativity scene, but publicly fund PissChrist. Yeap, we are really enlightened.

^^Haha...wow. I don't even know where to start.

Ok, first, let's get a source on that Executive Order.

The actual quote was from a constitutional lawyer named Bruce Fein, who was commenting on a ruling in a landmark separation of church/state case. He said "(The ruling) sows more doubts than it dispels. If there really was a wall separating church and state, a city fire department couldn't even put out a fire at a church."

Anthony D. Romero has been the executive director of the ACLU since 2001.

As for Piss Christ, a) the best example of public funding being abused is 20 years old? b) the most vocal public supporter of that piece was a nun and c) a society that values freedom of artistic expression enough to back even the most controversial works is, in fact, far more enlightened than one that does not.

You're just a stereotypical arm chair conservative peddling bastardized bits of info you got in email forwards as fact.

haha I didn't see the big paragraph you wrote, and was about to write a correction. It was concerning the Everson case, btw. And BTW, The ACLU has lost most 10 Commandment cases when they went up against the ACLJ.

So, in support of religion= bad, no funding. But anti-religion/ sacrilegious- good, public funding, but only if it's bad against Christianity.

And you forgot Hitler held up Martin Luther's works as justification to kill Jews. "Look Germans of the church, your founder says it."

Or Margaret Sangers racist views for PP.

Or that Alfred Kinsey's research subjects were pedophiles, nazis, rapists, etc.. Kinsey: Crimes & Consequences is a good read.

EDIT::: Here's an article to read. http://city-journal.org/html/17_3_ur...ietheater.html It's funny that in de ole' days, they could create things of beauty, and now, in the name of art, they can only destroy. Maybe it's because that's where their heart is...soulless and depraved.

If I were, I would support McCain. And I don't. Or maybe I'm toooo conservative to support him. lol

Conservative churches are the ones actually telling their constituents, "If you don't vote for Bush (or whomever), you're committing a sin." And collecting money in order to help a political candidate's campaign. If you can find an example of a liberal church doing that, then I'll complain about that too, but none have made the news. And if anyone tries to even *begin* to type about the "liberal media", I'll laugh them right off the board. The media has been anything but liberal in the 21st century.

Sweetie, a quick search will yield instances, not to mention when the IRS refuses to investigate (Jesse Jackson, etc.) because they are afraid to be labeled as racist.

And as to a conservative media....lololol Look at the free ride they've given Obama.

    Whew!

Thanks for setting the record straight, glambman. For the past several years, I've erroneously believed that Wesley Snipes wasn't Caucasian...

I thought we were talking about the body politik, not tax fraud. Whoops, Jesse did that when he paid off his mistress using funds from his nonprofit group. Imagine, if Wesley would have gone around to churches spouting inflammatory racist rhetoric, he probably wouldn't have been investigated. lol

I was not being condescending. Alluding to her naivete, sure, but that's a faaaar cry from thinking her inferior.

Hmm..a prayer that offends both legislators and strippers. Methinks it must have been intended to be offensive to just about everyone.

Of course. If someone is too irresponsible to manage proper birth control, they should be punished with a pregnancy. That'll teach them! And God knows birth control is utterly infallible.

Wait, you call her "sweetie", but it's in allusion to her naivete, and not meant to be condescending at all? That's the biggest crock of shit I've heard in a long while.

Guys who call women 'sweetie', especially when they have never met them, especially when they are in any kind of disagreement, are most emphatically being condescending, and trying to assert superiority. That attitude has no place on SW--or sure as shit shouldn't...

Naivete does not equal inferior, but people see what they want to see. Doesn't mean they are always right.
