    Default Something healthy that actually fills you up?

    I am sooo hungry!
    Carbs and cheese are making my flanks thick but I fruits/veggies/protein are not filling me up. I have an hour before bed and I am about to spoil all my good eating by scarfing a giant piece of bread...or crackers... or just something anything filling.
    Any recommendations for healthy foods that actually make you feel full??

    Soup always helps fill me up and is pretty satisfying. I like pea soup, lentil soup, or black bean chili. Anything with a lot of fiber is also healthy and filling.

    Fiber and fat make you feel full. Try whole grains, like whole-wheat bread and pasta and Triscuits, rather than white flours. It takes longer to digest them and they keep you feeling full longer. Brown rice is also very bulky and rich in fiber. Beans and peas are good too. For fats, you want things like cheese, avocado, and olive oil. They give you the satisfaction of fullness and they don't digest as quickly as fruits and simple carbs do.

    Whole wheat pita and a dab of Trader Joe's Mediterranean Hummus.

    Theres a healthy dose of protein in it too.

    ^okay that's what's happening then. I am eating fruits/veggies and they're just digesting so fast I don't even have a chance to feel full. Everything mentioned in this thread..I could eat it all.

    Light popcorn. Or if you can pop it in a pan on your stove, use the minimum amount of oil and add garlic salt. All the fiber makes it filling but since its popcorn it has an indulgent feel.

    Beans. They are yummy with and filling and can make a salad feel like "real" food. Apples are also pretty magical like that.

    protein, veggies and fat are my staples. Without the fat I can get ravenous.

    i am in LOVE with Ezekial bread.
    It whole sprouted grains.
    Comes in my grocers freezer and its so hearty and yummy.
    I like it with a schmear of red pepper hummus and some cucumbers and salt and pepper!
    So filling and yummy

    Sushi and soup, although sushi isnt exactly the most economical choice, it is totally perfect for feeling full but not "gross" stuffed.

    Try maybe a bowl of cereal as well, like special K or something~

    sometimes to keep in my fridge (I use low-carb bread). You get a good-sized serving and I like breakfast-like stuff before bed.

    Egg flower soup is good, too. You can buy the packets at the grocery store and then just add the egg, or you can look up a recipe online and make a huge pot to store in your fridge.

    this fills me up! 10 oz non-fat milk, 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, half banana, 1 tbsp peanut or almond butter, 2 ice cubes blended together. *yum*

    Spaghetti squash! MMMmmm. Its low in fat and carbs, just be sure that anything you use to flavor it doesn't add too many fat and calories. I like it make it just like spaghetti on its own, or mix it with a lean cuisine pasta dish to make it more filling.

    when you eat fruit, eat peanut butter with it to help you fill up. apple slices or a banana with peanut butter is more filling than just the fruit.

    Mmmmm! This sounds really good! What kind of chocolate protein powder do you use? I might try this as a healthy breakfast!

    Also - I like light yogurt mixed with some Kashi Go-Lean crunch - yummy and filling and lots of protein!
