    Default Braces- insurance-or dental plan

Hello. So, I've been wanting to get braces for a long time now. I am so overdue, and it's time I do something nice for myself. So, I am trying to figure out what the most affordable option for me would be. I don't have insurance, so I was thinking maybe Ameriplan. I have looked at dental insurance, but it doesn't even seem worth it. Anyone who has used any kind of discount plans I need your input. Also, anyone who has braces or kids with braces, how much did it cost for the regular kind and what were the monthly payments. I'm hoping to get financed, but me and my husband own our own businesses, so I don't really have a way to prove income, except bank statements, and even then we only deposit checks from the customers, not all the cash. Advice please!!!!!!

My braces were about 3k with monthly payments of $175 with an estimate of 18-24 months. The length of time they are estimated to be on usually effects the cost but you don't pay more if it goes longer. I have just plain ol' ugly metal bands.

    Dental insurance doesn't cover much.

I actually went to a dental school and had my braces done for $2000, and that had payment plans and I think by income too. My grandma had paid for it but I do remember whenever I needed my wires changed and monthly visits that were a pain in the ass. I didn't have pay a monthly fee. so look into all options not just the insurance.

WOW, I totally forgot about the Dental School thing. Thats a great recommendation, thank you. If I could get them for 2K that would be awesome, but I won't hold my breath. Yeah, I would like to keep my payments at or below $200/mo.
