    Default Democratic Convention

(I did a couple searches on this topic but it looked mostly like political debate threads.)

The DNC is coming to Denver in August and I think I'll be working really close to it. I'm getting excited because everyone's anticipating lots of money.

Has anyone worked in the same city as a Democratic convention, Republican convention, or something comparable? I'd like to hear your experiences if you have. Of course this will be a little different but I'd like to prepare myself as much as I can and know what to expect.

I doubt you'll see a difference. All media eyes are going to be on everyone involved, and they're not going to want to be seen in strip clubs. They'll be really busy too.

I have heard that escorts/prostitutes do well at political conventions, but their services are private and discreet. Possibly the Spitzer case would hurt their money too this year, not sure. But I don't think strip clubs are going to see a big rush in money at all.

I had heard some vague information from one of the waitresses about scouts from the convention coming to La Boheme and trying to work out a deal for convention goers who wanted to stay after 2:00 AM. Apparently they spent 2k in the VIP, so if she was telling the truth, I'm still hoping.

According to my calculations, LaBo is the closest strip club to the Can and therefore the closest club to the convention so logicly we have the best shot out of anybody.

As for it not effecting anything, I will be deeply let down if things stay average cause I am like hxc dem Obama volunteer and so I want to get a chance to let my political side fly.

I should also remind you that while the superdelegates prolly wouldn't be caught dead in the club, there's a whole hell of a lot of pledge delegates who are pretty much nobodies that can get away with it.

Right now, my husband is mostly worried about keeping the bar staffed during the convention... Business's are only given so many security passes to get into the downtown area and they're non-transferable... If half the dancers decide that it's too much of a hassle to get to work, or if a support staff member gets injured or sick, the club is screwed.

Yes, business WILL be better than average. Any event that brings so many people into a city will perk things up.

I want to know how it goes, I have high hopes for the Republican National Convention in September

I have worked recently in small towns where Obama and Hillary have spoken in South Dakota and Montana, and members of their "team", have bought dances from me in both places. Just go to work like normal and see what comes your way.

I read last night that they're combining all the parties into one giant bash at the convention center...things couldn't logicly get any closer to La Boheme.

With the pass thing, that dosn't make sense to me. Downtown Denver is a public place, I along with everybody else have a right to walk around down there. And by saying "walk around" I mean "go to work." The constitution in action folks!

Right now I am just intensely thankful that I don't have to deal with driving. I figure I'll just get off the bus at Civic Centre rather than Stout Street and take the shuttle down, they arn't gonna block 16th st.

I don't think it would hurt. But also, a lot of the entertainment is going to be at private events and not just loads of people going out.

Now, if you wanna look for money, the Republican convention is in Minneapolis -- that should be totally awesome for the rent boys there.
