Default Being happy with what you've got

So, since I've started dancing, I've been making garbage money. Or maybe not. I haven't been dancing for that long, but I always assumed that if I was taking my clothes off for money, I would be raking in at least 700 a night.

I'm in NYC for chrissakes...stripper mecca of the NE. I am HAPPY to bring home $500. I hardly ever sell any lapdances on the floor. All of my money comes from CRs...I do a couple a day, but when you're only getting a $150 cut of the $450 room, you're still not making a ton.

Part of me feels like I should be making a lot more, but then another part of me is like "What the fuck are you complaining about?" I hardly have any bills, my portion of the rent is minute... And 3-500 a shift is better money that I can be making anywhere else.

I can't be the only one feeling this way... but I'm tired of being halfway through a shift and not even have the money for my exhorbitant tipout.

I know what you mean, I'm torn between being pissed off and grateful almost every time I work. Really though, if I have a bad night I just multiply minimum wage x the number of hours for my shift and then I'm usually pretty okay with whatever I made.

mmm, i don't think nyc is the stripper mecca of the east coast...
These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?

I feel that way, too, sometimes. Tho, other times I'm happy to leave w/$250 one day out of the week...as long as it's only one day and my other days I make more than that. I think it depends on the amt of work I feel like I've done. Considering I'm daytime, I don't expect as many people to work with...I probably have one SEMI regular now (somehow)...so I don't have to deal w/needy-syndrome BS...most of the guys are older and more respectful and they have more money compared to younger guys....so if I don't make much on a nonstressful day, I'm happy w/what I did make. BUT if I went thru hell to make that $250 I'm going to be pissed.
Maybe you feel like you deserve more b/c you put up with alotta BS? Are you comparing your earnings to other girls' earnings in the club? Maybe your club just takes too big a chunk of your $$$?
You only get $150 outta a $450 room?!?!?! Good lord. No wonder you feel like you aren't making much. Where I work you get a little over 50% of w/e the room costs. Then you also said you have a high payout?! Are all the clubs in NYC like that? Sounds like they're taking too much to me, but I'm used to the MD area and don't know how things work up there. Most I've ever tipped out was a little over $100 in a lapdance club where you got to keep all the money from your lapdances.
About multiplying hrs x min wage...I used to do that ...can't do that anymore b/c I can't justify it in my mind b/c it's like comparing apples and oranges.

What is your cut of lapdances? Maybe you should try to get all your money from laps instead of CRs. Is your 150 cut for 1/2 or 1hr rooms? That is crazy that you get ripped off by so much!

Wow! What? You get $150 for an hour CR? That really sucks. I guess if I were you I'd try to sell guys on just buying an hour of your time. "It'll be a better deal for you...I'll only charge you $350..." I don't know, I guess you may get in trouble, or called on stage or something, but that CR set up you have really sucks. You should be bringing home $800 a night, not $300.

I don't know, Aubrey. I think you should be happy about $500 in general, but not these circumstances.

This is a huge reason I left my last club. They are taking WAY too much from you. There were nights at my club where I'd be in the CR for 2 hours (should be $600, and not to mention the damn bottles they made the guy pay for, and his CC charge of 20%) and somehow at the end of it it was only $450. WHAT THE FUCK. Because, don't forget, everyone will want their exhorbitant tips and have their fucking hands out.

That shit should infuriate you! And they take so much BECAUSE THEY WANT YOU TO THINK "Oh, well $450, 600, either way I'd never make this much anywhere else!" Motherfucker, you ALREADY took my fucking near-$100 house fee, AND expect me to tip at least $50 at the end of the night, and now you're gonna take all THAT!???

Sorry but its just fucked up. Is there any way you can get out of NYC, even if its just to try it? You might be surprised how much MORE money you will make, even if its a dive.

$150 out of a $450 room is madness! Thta's why when chicks tell me 'you should go to NYC, there's so much money' I roll my eyes. Those fees are insane and it sounds really frustrating.

I know what you mean. Some nights I'll leave with 200 (for a 5hr shift) and I'm perfectly happy but in the back of my head I'm thinking I should be making more. But I also feel this way if I make 600 (for a 7hr shift). I think its a variety of reasons that causes me to think this. Before I started dancing I thought strippers made soooooo much money, thus I think my expectations were high. Then you hear all the veteran strippers talking about 'how good it used to be' which only confirms that, yes, there WAS amazing money to be made. And sometimes if I feel like I've danced for every piece of lowlife scum in my town I feel like I should of earned more for putting up with them. For you it might be some of this, but I'd also feel how you do if my tipouts were that high. The most I've ever tipout is about $80 and even then I feel like my club is taking too much....I can't even imagine tipping out what you are. I'd feel like I worked my ass off for someone else's gain.

at least you dont live in my area im a top earner and make 2-400 average a night (obviously some nights are better and some are worse)

but yes sounds like that club is screwing the girls royally out of their share.

This is a great suggestion. Or at least don't spend as much time trying to sell the CR. You never know, after a few LD, somone may upgrade to a CR. If not, then at least you can move on after only spending a short time on them.

Maybe some shifts outside NYC are worth a try to boost your mood and maybe even your money. Just a thought

Fuck that. Seriously, I could not work in a place that blatantly rips me off like that.

I feel like I don't make a lot sometimes too. Me paying for rent and food is actually optional, so besides gas and school (which is also relatively cheap) I live for free and I still bitch about the amount I make. Some days it just feels like I put WAY too much into it for so little return.

Coming home and telling my BF that I irritated because I only made 495 after tip outs doesn't really go over well. It's been said before but this business can really warp our ideas on money...

And I'm with everyone else, you're being seriously ripped off by your club on the CR. Is that how all the NYC clubs pay out on CR or just your club? Could be time to go club shopping.

I'm the same way. I'll be like "Eh, I made 5" but then I just remember back in the days where I used to work 8-4 5 days a week in a hot sweaty ass diner, and make that all week. That always humbles me fast.

That kind of cut is ridiculous. Find a new club that's not going to pimp you out.

I agree, I'm one of them, but that is a HUGE amount of money to be taking. Yikes! I wouldn't rule out CRs entirely but maybe sell like one and then focus more on lap dances.

    ^ I don't think it's the $ amount.
    At $400 average a shift , 4 shifts a week, 4 weeks a month , you have a monthly income of $6400 pre tax.
If you work 2 shifts a week instead of 4, monthly you are at $3200 pre tax.
That's excellent money ( to me anyway...... I'm not sure what part of NY you are in.... but where I live $6400 pre tax for 40 hours total a week is good money .... I'm assuming 8 hour shifts and 8 hours of " stripper maintenence" a week) .

I think it's the rip off factor. You know your customer is paying way higher than you are being paid. It's unfair skimming off of your effort to take such a high amount of your rooms. Ok .... I just said what the others girls said. I guess I'm just saying I can relate too. I used to think strippers always banked. Now I know that sometimes they do and sometimes they don't.

I agree with pretty much everyone else, you are making decent money, but you know the club is taking too much off your earnings. Less than half off the earnings of a CR is pretty ridiculous, but how long are you back there for? Is it 15 min, half hour, an hour?

If you're only getting 150 out of 450 for a vip, you should really consider a new club, that is b.s.

Aubrey, there are other clubs in NYC that give you well OVER 50% of your VIP/CR...

I think you're back there for around 50 min, right?

If you sold 3 one hour rooms where I work now, you'd get $1200!!!!!!! Yes, after the club's cut.

But now you only get $450? W........T.........F.......???????? LEAVE, now!!! Or check out your ability to sell like that elsewhere while taking a week or 2 off.
