I can only find one thread with 4 replies.

Seeking more info. These seem way better than hormonal BC and they say that there is a slight reduction in STD risk since the cervix is covered with both methods? Also I have heard of people just using silicone based lube instead of spermicide? Is that true? Spermicide isn't good for people who have frequent sex...so that caught my interest, lol.

I don't think these would protect against STD's at all. Most of your vag will be coming into contact with the dudes penis...so...I wouldn't recommend depending on them to keep you clean.

I have researched the cervical cap as birth control (I'm in a monogamous relationship) and asked if anyone used them on here, and I don't believe I got a reply. I've decided that I'm going to use mirena instead.

I tried the diaphram years ago. I thought it was a pain in the ass. You put the spermicide on it and then fold it and insert it. Since it's slippery that's a fucker until you get used to it. But once you get the hang of it it's easy. getting it out had me in tears one day. it was suctioned on there pretty good. Mostly i just didn't like having to leave it in there to go to sleep with after for the 6-8 hours or whatever it is you have to leave it in there after last act of sex.
And if you're not comfortable with your body I wouldn't advise it.
    Men have it so easy.

It was actually your thread that I found in the searches, LOL.

Condoms would be used...but I am looking for a backup method besides the pill. Cuz something is going on with me hormonally and I temporarily stopped taking the pill...and am feeling a lot better.

They say that anything that covers your cervix decreases STDs that you may come in contact with...it's a slight reduction but 99% reduction with a condom and 30% reduction with a cervix covering device sounds like good news to me.

I have 0 experience with either, but I don't think cervical caps are used anymore.
Planned Parenthood had me recycle all pamphlets that mentioned them when I worked there, they said they're not sold anymore.
