    Default Tooth problem

I havent been to the dentist in years and i knew a couple years ago I had cavitys. Ok i am not working right now and I have no medical insurance. a couple hours ago i noticed a weird taste in my mouth and seen it was blood, so i went into the bathroom and got some salt water and gargeled(sp) with it. I have this big bump in my gums over the tooth!!!! what the hell is it??

It has stopped bleeding but now its driving me nuts...Also, is there anyway I can get into a dentist without insurance/no money/and if i dont use my cc?can i have them send me the bill in the mail? im in central fl.

thanks for any help u can provide.

PS: i also cant go to the ER

Are you in any pain? You should definitely go get a check-up asap and look into getting dental insurance for the future. Most places will take patients w/out ins. and I believe they offer payment plans.

I don't have insurance either and just had to get a root canal, I looked in the yellow pages and called around to find the lowest prices and found a decent place to get my work done. My initial exam was only $40.

Is it over one tooth? It could be an inpacted tooth which means the skin on the gum has grown over the tooth. Or it could be an absess.
Rinsing your mouth with warm salt water will help if there is pain as will paracetamol.

Sounds like you have an abscessed tooth. I'm not a dentist but...an abscessed tooth is a infection at the root of a tooth or between the gum and a tooth, most commonly caused by severe tooth decay. Symptoms of abscessed tooth include fever, painful chewing, sensitivity in the teeth, bitter taste in the mouth, and swollen neck glands.
Most certainly go to the Dentist, You do not want the infection running through your body. It can get worse with serious side effects.

an abscessed tooth is a serious condition. You need to see a doctor right away. The infection can spread to your jaw, or worse, can spread to your heart. You definately don't want a bacterial infecion in your heart. Use your credit card for the dentist, borrow money or apply for care credit. either way, get it done.

yes it is over the cavity tooth i have. I hope its not an abcessed tooth!! I found a dentist down the street from me. Im going to call and see what they can do for payment plans. This might sound stupid but, im 20 and I havent been to the doctor since 2004(had 3 cavitys then) but what do I ask for when it comes to payment?

I just want them to send me a bill like they do at the ER. Can they do that at the dentist? What is the proper word for that? Do i need info from other dentists? I always used my ex boyfriends dentist and i dont even remember his name.

Im clueless on this stuff lol

you are probably going to have to pay at time of service. They may work with you and let you pay half now, half later....but dentists will give discounts for uninsured patients.

Just a thought: some big university hospitals around here have dental clinics for a low cost. If you're really worried over money, it might be worth calling your local hospitals to see if there's anything available.

Also, when I was broke, I flat-out told the provider of my situation. Some reduced the cost and offered a payment plan to me. It's rough on the ego, but worth it to avoid more serious medical problems.

I went to the dental university when i was broke and needed emergency tooth help and they were really good and helped me work out a fair payment plan.

While waiting for you appointment you should use a hydrogen peroxide/water mix and swish it around your mouth a few times a day. It will help kill the infection and debride any dead/dying gum tissue preventing further infection.
