Default Bank of America possible scam email?

I'm posting all over today! I just got this email:

    Dear Bank of America Client,

Due to concerns for the safety and integrity of your Bank of America account,
we have issued the warning message. It has come to our attention that your Bank of
America account information needs to be updated as part of our continuing commitment
to protect your account in this year 2008 and to reduce the instance of fraud on our
website. If you could please take 5-10 minutes out of your online experience and update
your personal records, this will lead to no future problems with the online service. Once
you have updated your account records, your Bank of America account service will not be
interrupted and will continue as normal.

To update your Bank of America records click on the following link

Call/e-mail Bank Of America directly. Don't answer the e-mail. I don't know who you could report it to, except maybe the BoA people.

    Ick.

I'm with B of A and I've gotten a few of those emails, they always come to my junk box for some reason. You could contact B of A.

Never respond or click on a link in any email like that. I get ones for paypal too telling me I need to verify my account info. If those businesses do have a problem you'll know when you try to log onto their home page, not by them emailing you.

Definitely a scam!! If the bank really needs you to log into your account they would send you an email asking you to go to your account, not send you some dodgy ass link after which you would no doubt have toi enter your acc number and pin code. Lol, especially since you dont even bank with them! I get the paypal ones a lot too, and from random banks around the world. I'm a spam magnet.

If it's from a bank you don't have an account with, it's a scam. And yes, even if it IS from a source where you have an account, NEVER click a link to get there. Always just go to the site.

I've never seen a legit communication from a bank (or paypal) that says, Dear ______ customer.

It will always list your full name.

And, even when you get those, you open another browser window, type in the address of that financial institution and check your account stuff that way.

they are a scam. I saw templates for all these where anyone can send them out. Never make any changes to your account unless you log in directly to the BOA site....and even then you will not have to enter your account #

These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?
