    Eating while on the road

I've been doing a lot of traveling lately, staying in hotel rooms that usually don't have a fridge or microwave. I've had to eat unhealthy while I'm away from home and I'm sick of it! The best option I've come up with so far is keeping a cooler full of protein bars, granola, slim fast, and various nuts. Unfortunately paying a little more for a room with better amenities is just not possible right now. Does anyone have good "traveling" food they take with them when they're on the road that doesn't need to be frozen or heated up?

you can take a lot of stuff in a cooler! sandwiches or wraps, fruit, string cheese, yogurt, pretzels, raw vegetables. frozen foods typically arent too healthy anyway. you can find a lot that simply needs to be refrigerated.

^ I could have written your post .

I do : baby carrots and apples ( travel really well ) , low fat granola bars , dried fruit . It's really hard to eat decent while traveling ( I'm a foodie who is always trying new restaurants so this doesn't help either ).

I'm trying to get more creative. I'm going to come back and see what other people recommend.

Find yourself a grocery store. Buy a bunch of fruit and cut it up before your shift. Store an ice pack in your cooler to keep things cool. You could check out vegan recipes as some won't need any refrigeration or heating.

I used to keep a cooler in my room when I traveled to places with no fridge,etc.. I'd keep whole grain crackers, cheese, whole grain bread, peanut butter, cut fruit and veggies,tuna....stuff like that.

I follow a low carb diet so for my snacks I like sliced veggies, fruit, cheese, almonds, pecans, atkins bars, low-carb tortillas, sunflowerseed butter, sliced lunch meats, tuna, hard boiled eggs, flaxseed meal muffins, and beef jerky. I also like to have plenty of water and diet soda.
