Default Using Lemons to Fade Dark Spots

I've read of using citrus fruit such as lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruit yet mainly lemons to fade and even out skintone.

Have any of you fellow Sistas ever tried it?

Fade creams don't appeal to me as much and can become costly. I do have a prescription of Tri-Luma though. I just hadn't used it religously.

Citric acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (similar in molecular construct and effect as glycolic or lactic acid). You can expect them to work the same way as any AHA you buy on the market.

Well I personally have never tried it..but I do know that rubbing lemons on lips (weed darkens the lips) works wonders on lightening them. I will suggest though that you apply sunscreen if you use the lemon. Dark spots + bleaching skin + no sunscreen = darker spots.

Well when i was younger i tried every product to try to lighten my freckles.
They used to be really dark, lucikly now they have faded.
Anyways no cremes or lemons ever worked.
The only thing that did was a really good foundation and concealer.

Fade creams work very well, especially, Nadinola. You can find it in most stores.

I've tried lemons and they do work because of the acidity, but it's not that convenient and I don't need fruit flys following me around. I knew an aethestician that formulated her own lemon toner. That worked alot easier than actual lemons, but her product was inconsistent because she hand mixed them. Each bottle was different; some more effective than others.

I've also just started using a Sea Breeze astringent, with 2% Saliycic Acid. It's pretty cheap and it actually dramatically fades dark spots and help to prevent new breakouts. Warning, this product can be very drying so be sure to use a moisturizer in areas that are more sensitive.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

For now, I'm happy with Sea Breeze for my chest, back, and shoulder blades, nadinola for the elbows and knees, and I go to a dermatolgist for the face, but recommend products like ProActiv.

Ive heard of it but never tried it. However when I was a kid I experimented with using lemon juice to lighten my hair and it worked! I am peeved about this still actualy, lol. I have black hair and lightened a strand to quite a light shade of brown just by repeatedly applying lemon to it - I forget how many times as this was in 1980/1. My friends didnt believe me and one went so far as to "check" with a teacher as to if it was possible or not - and the teached said I was lying!

So anyway, if it lightened my hair, it might well work on dark spots.

Bebe how long does it take the Nadinola to work? Or at least start to notice any difference?
