Beano might work. Never worked for me though.

But as another person who used to go through this, the cure is changing how you eat.

And nix the gluten and dairy while you're at it.

This happens to me at work a lot too! I think it's from the chinese food I usually order.

I usually try to bring gas-x or immodium (but the second one only if I have other symptoms )

Thanks for the advice, mladies. So no dairy or gluten (what is this again? nvm I'll google) before work? I'll try out some beano or Gas X too in case emergency strikes again.

I just hate this so much because it's bad enough to have normal gas where you're all farty, but it's so much worse to have it build up inside and not be able to fart or burp and have it hurt like hell.
Gluten is wheat protein. So no wheat stuff, pretty much.

Dairy is horrible for most people. You may want to consider using Rice, Almond, Hemp, or Coconut Milk in place of regular milk.

I would also recommend taking acidophilus supplements daily. I would also say that removing the gluten/dairy from your diet should be a dietary change and not just something that you do just before work. In fact, if you eat that stuff a day before work, you can still have the same issues the day/night of work. So, you're much better off removing those things from your diet completely.

I like Gas-x better. I use to have gas a lot and still do to be honest. I use to eat pretty bland on the nights I worked. Eattng a bland diet with low fiber on the days/nights you work might be a good idea for you as well.

That's a good idea too. I just started probiotics and noticed a decrease in the gas actually.

Glad you said this. I was oging to add that it's not a "OK, no gluten/dairy for a week." It's more of a lifestyle make over. And then maybe (as in i.breathe.in's case) after a few years of healing the gut, you can add some things back in. Some people heal faster than others. Cutting back isn't the trick. Elimination is.

Your pain could also be caused by having too much acid in your stomach. Try taking an antacid next time you have these pains and can't get rid of them by taking a gas-x type thing. Tums work if you're looking for a cheap option.

Get tested by your doctor for IBS if this is a common occurence. The doctor will be able to tell you how to manage it.

I get lots of that when I start to eat alot of fiber. Don't forget to drink your water it helps making it go down. Gas-x is your best friend. Probiotics are also awesome such as kefir. If you drink any kind of bubbly stuff stop right now. That can cause more bloating.

Dietary needs change as we get older as to what we can and cannot eat. Like VG said change your diet. If its bad after that then I say see a doc.

Health food store, wherever you get supplements. Usually in a refrigerated case at Whole Foods with the flax oil and acidophilus, etc.

As for probiotics, make sure they are the refrigerated kind. The 'live' stuff. The other stuff doesn't work, IMO. Make sure it says "L. Acidophilus" somewhere on the bottle. I know here I can only get it at the speciality health store, whereas the cheap stuff on the shelves (non refrigerated) from Shoppers Drug Mart- it's not the 'real' stuff.

^^Yes! People say not to drink fizzy stuff, but I've found that a perrier water is a great help. It brings the gas up from your stomach. When I was in Germany, people drank that damn fizzy water all the time. I hated it at first, but I found it really helped my stomach. It makes it a lot more comfortable.

Also, fennel tea is excellent for gas pain and bloating. It can be hard to find, but you'll have better luck at health food stores. It tastes like black licorice, which I hate, but it's genius. Really, really works!
