I have a question. Is this type of work "under the table" so to speak? Like can you just walk in off the street and get a job or do you have to fill out all kinds of paperwork, have a social security card, etc etc like you would for a normal job?

Are you trying to live off the grid?
Every club is different.

Depends on the club. Most legit clubs will require an application/id, sometimes including ss card. Sometimes just a valid driver's license.

Every club I've danced at always required paperwork, my social security number and my ID. Although, some clubs would have me work right away before filling out paperwork and I just needed to show them my ID, making sure I was of legal age.

I work for a chain and had to present my paperwork (including SS card) as they don't hire illegal girls. Most places you have to at least have ID saying you're over 18.
I've only worked at two clubs. One wanted a photocopy of my ID and paperwork filled out including a paper saying I'd pay my taxes, the other just asked if I was 21+ without even looking at my ID.

The only place I had to give a SS# was Scores (I think, maybe there was another club). Otherwise you do need a DL or ID at the very least and a couple places wanted a full application. It really varies.

Yeah I'm sort of going "off the grid" I suppose.
As of next spring I'm giving up my apartment to travel the world indefinitely. I will need a way to stop in one place for a few months at a time here and there to make some cash and move on. I won't really have an address or anything to put down on paper. (I'll be staying at hostels and communes and what not).
I was also wondering about this because I'll be traveling overseas as well. I know you can't just go into some countries and work, and I was curious about if stripping might be under the table the way some illegal immigrants work under the table here.
From what all you guys said, I see it really varies so I'll just have to visit different clubs and take things as they come. Thanks guys!

Good to know, I'll check into it.

I'm going to go all over, but the places Id consider working were London, Australia, Canada, etc. I don't think I want to go be a dancer in Thailand or anything Ive heard scary stuff. I'll mostly be working in the United States, I just wondered about not having a permanent address.

Yes, I'm very excited about it, both about the travel and finally being determined to become a dancer!
I'm at a chain club and its the biggest in town, and seeing as I'm from the UK studying in the US I went through a whole hella paperwork etc to get a work permit so I could work in the club and be legal. Then I got there and all they wanted was a peek at my drivers license. But hey, at least I know I'm in the right.
Most clubs you can just call and ask what to bring with you and as well as telling you about outfits etc they'll probably say "bring your drivers license, you'll need your SS card etc" That way you can call and find out which ones require what before you actually go there.
Also, granted I haven't been back to the UK since high school and have never applied for a British visa etc, but as far as I'm personally aware, getting a permit isn't that hard. I have a bunch of friends who studied abroad in the UK and they just seemed to ask for a work permit to go with it, and there it was! Also, if you do go the legit way and get a work visa, I think you can use it throughout Europe. So you'd be free to go all over the EU with it.
Honestly, I don't think you'd have much trouble working under the radar and traveling. There'll always be clubs that don't care as long as you're old enough, and if you're doing it while traveling you can just up and leave if it doesn't feel right.

^Thanks for the reply. I would definitely leave any club that doesn't feel right, regardless of traveling or not. Working in europe sounds fun! Makes me think of that movie CLOSER where Natalie Portman is a stripper from New York and she is working in that club in England and stripping for CLive Owen..lol if only all customers looked like him eh? hahahah.![]()
Ooh I didn't see that movie! Yeah Europe is good bc it's all the one currency (except the UK) and most people speak some kind of English lol!
PM me if you have any Q's when you're applying for stuff etc!
I had my SScard stolen years ago a,ong with my wallet. I havent replaced it yet..esp since I got married 8 years ago(before I started stripping). Long story...they've been giving me the runaround(you need a,b and c...no now you need abc and d..blah blah...so its been a royal PIA)
If you have a valid DL,thats all you'll need in most places in the US. They'll ask for your SS# in some places...but I've never had them ask to see the card, and I've worked in several states. If theres an address on you DL then just use that...they dont check to see if you actually live there. Hell..I've worked in some clubs that didnt even ask to see id..just asked if I was of age.
both clubs that i've worked at required a SS card and driver's license.

They need a driver's license to verify your age. I've had a few of them ask for my SSN, but I never give it out because there's no reason they need it and I'm concerned about identity theft. They aren't paying any payroll taxes on me since I'm not an employee, so there's no reason they would need to have my SSN. If I come across a line for it on the form, I just leave it blank and no one's said anything about it.
how much scrutiny do they put into id's? i dont have an id atm so i was thinking to just use my sisters, we look alike but the height on the id is different will clubs notice?

My drivers license pic is from 10 years ago and I look completely different in it. It might work if you two look sorta alike.

^^My friend used an asian girls ID once.((she's clearly not asian))
I don't think they care much..
