Default Henna on previously color treated hair?

Being that my hair is dark brown any bit of grey stands out like neon so I color my sparse greys with color every 4 to 6 weeks. But now I am very interested in switching to "greener" option of using henna from Lush. I don't however want my hair falling out. I've heard some stuff about not mixing henna and chemical based color but I can't remember the rules about it. Can someone here help me out? Thanks!

    So they say !!

My advice is to use henna discretly. Making some stripes ... If it works - that's fine. If it don't - the damage isn't that hard.

I do that all/some times. It works fine for me !!

Give it a try !? Best wishes ...

PS Henna is not green !?!

You have to be careful using henna over chemical dye. I waited two months after my last dye job and did a strand test. Go to hennaforhair.com and read about testing the henna.

Oh, and henna IS green! AS in not chemicals. And as in, it is green powder.

Yes, it can work; my first henna app was over color. Strand test!

Remember that going the other way -henna to color- is much harder. I have so much henna built up in my hair I can't dye it at all anymore. I can't even bleach it.

I reccommend using pure henna. Check your herbal shops/hippie shops (where they sell herbs for Wicca use) or order from hennaforhair.com.

Lush henna is still natural, however due to the amount of other things in it, it won't be as even, and since they are handmade, getting good color every time will be a mess.

Mix the henna powder by directions, depending on the color you want to go. I love using red wine for my mixing acid.

    And yes, it's green.

Oh, added - put in some essential oils - I like rose or vanilla - and you'll counteract the wet hay smell of henna. It'll stick with you for days - so do it!

to do a strand test pull some hair from your brush or comb and use that to test the henna on. i had red hair dye in my hair the first time i used henna, tried the strand test and it turned out fine.

always do the strand test. please.
