    Default Business Networking

Since the recession has cut into my dancing profits, I have been focusing on my other businesses. How many other StripperWebbers have small businesses on the side?

This post isn't meant to be spam, as I have been a contributing member of SW for six years. Rather, I think in tough economic times we should all make a point to patronize members of our community (albeit an online community) before we patronize strangers and/or large corporate entities (the way it was before WalMart)

    So I'll start:

I actually started two small businesses.

    1. I took over 80% of Naked Assets. I restructured the curriculum and will be teaching an 8 week webinar course tentatively scheduled to begin in July. For Dancerwealth graduates and those who bought the home study course there will be a nominal $19.95 fee to attend. For new students, the Home Study Course Binder has been replaced with the online course. If you just started dancing in the last 3 years, you have never worked through a recession. I've gotten lots of personal emails about how to brush up on SuperStripper Skills: this is it!

    2. I also started a travel company. Well, I didn't "start" it, but I am an independent representative for WorldVentures. I have been traveling more in the past year, and noticed that Orbitz/Expedia/Hotwire didn't give me a commission for booking on their site. Worldventures gives me a 5-15% commission back everytime someone books on my travel site. So if I can meet or beat the best advertised price on Orbitz/Expedia/Hotwire will you give me the commission instead of Bill Gates? http://www.destinationavalon.com

If you are a traveling dancer, you may benefit from the LTC package also. http://destinationavalon.worldventures.biz

I've been looking for a good stripper clothes/shoe store since Bridgette closed her doors. I have all the links, but I want to patronize a SWer, not a stranger. Anyone?

Who's next? Anyone sell Arbonne? MaryKay? PrePaid Legal? Anyone have an online store?

Well, to be honest, you actually inspired me to get out there and start my own business. When you were talking about "mastery" on your blog it really hit a key note for me.

I decided I was done working for (and getting groped by) The Man. Particularly since the economy took a nose dive. I decided to do something about my future.

I'd dabbled in phone sex for a while on the side then turned it into what is for me the most lucrative job I've ever had. It expanded from just phone sex here and there to phone, phone with cam, selling vids, pics, stories, and now to running a couple groups of girls - 24 of them, all told. My own dot com and another one soon to come - I'm busier, happier, and more productive and financially stable than I've ever been. And the best part? I'm never, ever bored.

To us! Entrepeneurs who refuse to let a recession put us into section eight.

Wow, good call. I'm getting back into freelance writing (ever so painfully, LOL) and putting together an online store on Etsy, where I'll sell homemade sauces, salsas, pickled goodies, breads, and the like. I'm going to be making some samples this week and hopefully in another week or two I'll have the site up. Great thread, we should help boost each other!

    Cool idea!

I manage back of book listings for an alternative newspaper in Portland, OR (weekly circ 42,500). This encompasses the Adult Services listings and the back page bulletin board ads (all of the classified listings on the back cover). Adult Services is typically escort listings, while bulletin board is just about everything -- URLs, stores, classes, events, etc.

If anyone is interested in text print advertising for Portland, OR -- or for Seattle, for that matter (we are owned by a paper in Seattle), let me know.

HoboStripper.com - I write cool things and keep peoples attention. To make money with it, I sell ad space, use adsense, review books, and I get free vibrators and review them. The vibrator deal is pretty sweet. I've gotten hundreds of dollars in free vibes, and I actually get a really good comission on them. I'd like to turn my vibrator reviews into a weekly column somewhere else so I can get more comissions - any ideas?

StrippersOnTheRoad - It's a baby still, but it's strip club reviews for and by strippers. Eventually I'll sell some ad space and let clubs pay to be featured.

I have a couple other websites on the back burner, but no time for them.

Lena, how do you find people who want to pay you to advertise on your blog? How do they know how much traffic you have and if it is worth advertising there?

I'd like to hear more too. Not because I want to sell things. I hate selling things. I'm just interested.

I'd kind of like to know who had another business that is not related to the sex trade, that could viably be expanded to be equivalent to a full time income. I'm not judging smaller or sex related ventures, I'm just interested in what stripping is realistically branching out to.

I just put an advertising link on my blog with a short pitch and some info about traffic with a graphic from sitemeter. That's all I've done so far, but I guess I could advertise it on sitepoint and places like that. Or if you want to go through a third party there's blogads.com. They sucked for me, but I know other people have had better luck with them.

Then, like the vibrator people, they advertise for free, but I get 20% plus free vibrators.
