Default What gift to give to dog sitter?

Since starting back to school, I haven't had enough time during th week to spend with my dog like I used to. Now I can only manage to get him to the park 3/4 times a week instead of every day like I used to. When I'm not home or asleep, he has to stay in his kennel, so that's a lot of kennel time lately, and i felt bad.

His girlfriend at the dog park, her owner offered to take Dash a few days a week to his house and let them play together. He takes them for walks, takes them to the park or just lets them run around his house. It's a huge huge help to me. He takes very good care of my dog, treats him as his own. And his dog and my dog are the best of friends and get along beautifully. So I really appriciate him doing this. He offered to pick up my dog and keep hi for a few hours 3 days a week or so, or even for over nights or whenever I need a sitter. he doesn't want anythign in return..he just loves my dog and giving his dog a playmate.

So the point is, I really appriciate this guy doing thjis for me an Dash. I want to show my appriciateion and gratitude and get him a gift.

    What should I give him?

I gave him a copy of Caesar Milan's book...but I was thinking, a gift certificate to petsmart? A supply of rawhide gift wrapped?

He has a rat terrier/chihuahua mix.

So what would be a nice gift to give?

Are you sure this guy doesn't really hope to meet you through the dogs?

    But:

    A subscription to DogFancy
A HUGE box of small MilkBones
A hand knit sweater for his doggy.

Money or gift certificates are too.... "Thank you, servant" in this situation. I would get him something that he would definately use in the form of a present. (Like gift-wrapped doggie stuff)
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

Gift wrapped doggie stuffs I would agree. Like greenies and rawhides (I don't use either, but whatever you guys use) Maybe one of those collars for his dog that's personalized? I agree though, it seems like he's trying to hook up with you through your dog.

I agree he's probably trying to hook up. But i do like the pets mart gift certificate idea.

Just be careful. I'm probably just paranoid since I always think most men have ulterior motives. But I do think the pets mart gift card is a good one.

    awww that's so sweet.
The other day I was at the dog park and this old man comes a lot when I'm there. He walked in and chuckled and said "we gotta stop meeting like this...people are gonna talk." LOL

There's 3 of us at the dog park, my rat terrier, his rat terrier/chi and a jack russel terrier. Our 3 dogs are like the 3 musketeers. They are all best friends.
We 3 meet at the dog park at 5pm most days of the week. it's like a standing date. Since it's been so hot now, we can't go at 5 pm anymore, can't go to the park until after 7pm. That, along with my schooling makes it so tht I can't get to the park anymore. so my dog doesn't get exercise, and he doesn't get to see his friends as much anymore. So this dude offered to help out...anyway, his dog gets to see her playmate.

Now..the JRT owner...he's a young little hottie. I think he's 26 and I would love to have him bend me over the picnic bench

NO NO NO NO on any gift cards. I must admit that ever since gift CERTIFICATES which were treated just like cash have been pushed aside for gift cards (and all thier troubles)... yeah.. I've changed my tune on that whole deal.

I agree with the pet treats wrapped up as a gift

Or even something him and his wife can use that isn't pet related.

And I agree that he probably does it because he enjoys doing it ... if he is retired then there is no other motive than to enjoy himself really. I know I will do the same if I was his age and retired. Why not? It would be fun.

how bout a nice gift certificate to a restaurant for
both of them with flowers for the wife and a bottle of
cider or a small champagne. so that way its for both
of them and still has a gift with the gift cert.

plus a chew toy for the dog of course.

or ceasar milan'e DVD box set.
or if u get a pic of their dog take it to a dog
artist or do some computer graphic stuff to the
    pic and frame it.

I gave him a copy of Cesar Milans second book. I forget the name.....
I had loaned him the first book and he enjoyed it and said he wanetd to buy the second one so he could refer back to it...so I bought him a copy.

He's been watching my dog twice a week for about 3 hoursor so. It's to hot to go to the dog park, and he just keeps the dogs inside and lets them run around and play..they bounce off the walls! He and his wife seem to love to watch the dogs run around like crazy.
