    Default Ankle weights? Or what?

There's this trail here that I walk every day. Like four or five miles. It's beautiful and I love it and don't want to run the whole way and miss seeing everything, but I do want cardio, so I run the first mile or so to get my heart rate up. But I'm not really getting any excercise from it? I mean, I'd like to lose weight, but it would be cool if my leg muscles just got bigger, but I don't feel like I'm really getting anything. Not even tired.

Should I try ankle weights? Will they fuck with my back/hip problems?

I would sprint and walk, sprint and walk, then sprint and walk some more.

Ankle weights will work your hip flexors more and won't necessarily do anything for leg shaping. Plus if you already have back/hip problems I can see adding ankle weights as a way that'll cause more muscle imbalances.

My friend has the biggest calves I've ever seen....she's a petite girl and over 40.
She told me they were permanently enlarged because she used to do alot of running with ankle weights.
There is nothing sexy about her massive calves.

Try a weighted vest. I picked one up at Wal-mart. Its 10lbs max, and you can take weight out to your comfort level. Great for walking and jogging. It will help build endurance and get the heart pumping. ALso will help with muscle building. I love it...and can't wait to wear it again!
