    "alternative" club

i was talking with my sister(who is the dancer in the family ) about the club scenes for "alternative" girls. ya know girls who have too mny tattos or piercings for your upper class club. or like daancing to something besides hip hop/r&b..well i was wondering..how many girls do you think would want to work at a club that spec. on serving the alternative community && do you think the CLUB would make an money???

    *edi*
im not saying that just because you have sleeves you CANT dance in up scale & gowns..my sister has both sleeves, working on her torso and has stretched ears & she works upscale and LOVES gowns. im talking about woman who WANT to dance to something differant. sorry if i didnt make myself clearer in the original post..

i have full sleeves in progress and work in a upscale club. i wear gowns, dance to oldies, and do the pinup thing.

you dont have to pigeonhole yourself if you dont want to.

btw this should be in stripping general....

Sounds like a place I'd like to go as a customer but not to work in. A club full of alt girls would be horrifically competitive and ultimately depressing. As for whether the club would make money, I wouldn't count on it. Most guys who spend the big bucks aren't exclusively into alternative girls, and the none of the guys I know who are into alternative girls are into strip clubs. Finding enough alt dancers, not to mention a strong alt-loving customer base, in any given local area would be quite a feat.

On that note, I too do well because I stand out and I still play whatever music I want regardless of the general consensus.

99.9% of the time the "alternative" girls will do well in a main stream club because they do stand out. If You've got a club full of alternative girls I bet the one with no tats or piercings will be the one banking, it's all about standing out.

It's called the city of Portland, Oregon. Google Devils Point or Union Jacks or Magic Gardens.

j/k. Just about everywhere I've worked there are tattooed rocker girls. I mean, what's your question? Would a club serving the "alternative" community make money? Yes if the city it's in has a large enough population to support it. But not as much as a club that attracts all types of customers. Fish with a net, not a hook, and all that.

Susan beat me to it! In Portland this is almost every club, but in most areas there aren't enough guys who are into both tattoos AND strip clubs. Better to be the rocker chick at your regular club.

I would love to only so i could play my music! And i bet around here it would be moderately busy.
BUT i'm tattoo free and have let my only piercing heal up. I would have helluva fun breaking out my pvc and domme boots if they'd have me.

i tone down my look a little bit for work in order to appeal to both sides. HOWEVER i always turn it up when we get other (usually younger) alternative girls. lol .... call it defense or whatever. at one point a couple months ago we had maybe 4 pierced/tattooed/goth/punk girls and i was alllllllll sorts of not happy. not because i didn't like them, i actually did, but because it's better to be the only one (which i usually am). whenever i see a girl with bettie page bangs walk in to speak to the manager about dancing i'm secretly like "fuckfuckfuckfuck PLEASE have the weirdest looking tits ever..."

also, i "get away" with a bit musically and when new girls come in and push the limits it's only a matter of time before management starts wanting to ration the weirder stuff out, which i understand.

    also/ps:

a club like that wouldn't work. you can have paid dancers at a goth/industrial/alternawhatever club (i used to do that) but a stripclub? no. even if you have a really big scene in your area (which we do, in tampa) it'd still be difficult to get repeat customers. not to mention everyone already knows each other.

when i think of working at "an alternative strip club" in tampa, i think "so... i'm going to try to sell dances to all of my friends on a regular basis? .........."

    heh

My advice is do fetish gogo if you want to be the alternative girl at an alternative club. They can bank, but lots of competion and per hour random gigs, shows, and photoshoots 2 be a well known paid circut fetish dancer--plus lots of money in customes and you really have to know how to dance 4 the most part, but fun fun fun and completely different scene.

Now I don't know of an alt stripclubs, but I'ld definately want to go to go and not to work there if there was any here. Why becuz like most said smaller pond with 2 many of the same type of fish --maybe can be good like the dom, fetish scene can be great money if worked right, but generally instead of different types of hottest around you that you are competing w/ among different types of customers you would be around a competing of who's hardcore among customers who all want the same so it's in a way sharing the same money. It works for fetish clubs, but I doute so much at stripclubs.

However I happen to work w/ a few other alter girls at my club and it never really affects me other then I like thier music more, but still there is a big difference in us interms of body type and for the fact we are enough different in our style it's not like a competion thing. I'm just really diverse and different then most anyways soo even in a alter club i don't ever get much of that anyways is how I see it.

I do keep my style and taste toned down for work cuz the spetum and short spikey dykie hair did scare away some of the money I now make more regularly....and I know from experience when I go with the tanned long haired blonde barbie look I banked even more, but I try 2 balance and mantain a look I can live comfrontibly with while keeping my sense of self and style which is pretty hard going from hardcore punk butch to stripper but oh well selling out a few hours a week lets me live the rest of my life as hardcore as I want to be after hours. Plus I'ld probably get into that much more trouble if I worked at a alternative club being that i have such a thing for goth girls I can't go 2 a club like that without bumping into 6-7 of my exes ez which is great for a partylife where you really don't have to deal with them other then 2 say I was with that hottie or hookup 4 a casual round 2, but not so great if you were stuck in the midddel of the drama of it all everyday for work.

Cheetahs in Hollywood has an overwhelmingly fetish/punk-rock vibe and the girls are very attractive and pull in a good crowd. It is an alcohol club and they have to dance in the open and do bikini dances (you could not sit on a guys lap at ALL during the dances) but it wasn't hard to make $200/night. Problem was it was hard to make MORE than that, but I'm sure it'd be possible if the lap dance/alcohol laws weren't so strict in Hollywood.

For the record: I have zero tattoos and only my ears pierced and did well as a slim, enhanced black dancer who danced to alternative and top 40 music.
