    Default gowns

I'm thinking of auditioning at a gown club and I'm wondering where one can buy a gown other than online. I don't think I've seen them at adult stores. I'm in NYC/NJ.

    Fuck that!

It's june, go to the prom dress section and you'll find plenty of slinky gowns that either work perfect off the rack or will be great with minor alterations. I got a gorgeous hot pink gown today at Dillards for $25!

Oh really? You literally just wear a nice gown? I somehow thought they were especially stripper-like or somethin. Do you wear them with regular stripper shoes?

^ you DO need a stripper type gown, and by that I mean something stretchy and comes off easily. I would hate for you to show up in an actual prom gown, although when you know what you're looking for, the prom section would work. Check out the club and you'll see.

Fuck yeah! Many of the girls it seems at LaBo have at least one gown in their locker and I noticed long ago that they looked like the slinky sexy prom dress styles. Soooo, I waited for prom season to be over and hit the mall today and came out with a hot pink shiny (but not glittery) halter gown that should work fantasticly. All I need to do is deal with the lining and add like, a cheap rhinestone brooch or something to the point of the neckline for a little glamour!

I could have baught the same thing from the rack at work and paid like $150. Why waste that much money when you get the same damned thing AND you get the surreality of being an adult trying on prom dresses, lol.

As for stretchyness, that was one of the factors I specifically tried out in the dressing room. I stole a large handicapped DR and tested out the dresses for movement and ease of getting out. A lot of prom dresses are made from super-stretchy materials. Not all prom dresses are fluffy these days, there's a lot of emphasis on looking flat-out sexy.

    Oh fer chrissakes...

    Viola is VERY right.

THOSE are the gowns that you want. Lots of choices. They do not in any way resemble prom dresses. These are prom dresses:
If there's a resemblance, your prom section has a hoochie problem.

(eta- sorry, we all posted at the same time- i repeated the flirt link, apologies)

Prom dresses don't have the plunging necklines, the leg slits, the backless beauty, etc.... the tummy slits, the traditional stuff that says "stripper." and you need that differentiation.

Here is something cheap that would work anywhere and look good with some rhinestone jewelry. One gown club I worked at wouldn't let us have 2 piece gowns, be aware that they probably have rules regarding their gown rule.

The gown I baught today looks nothing like any of those Jessica McClintock gowns. Mine is by XOXO Collection, is super slinky, and OMG...imagine this CLASSY AND SEXY AT THE SAME TIME!

But yeah, go through a prom magazine and you WILL see loads of gowns that look exactly like those in the flirt catalogue link. Prom these days isn't all princess gowns and at the same time, it's not all ghetto-ho dresses either.

EDIT: I dunno how much online prom dress shopping expiriance you have Colette, but all the times I've tried it, nothing online is the same as it is in the store.

I should also note I proudly rock the DIY stripperwear. Where i can take something cheap and make it fabulous, I absolutely will. I have yet to fail.

I think the main thing about the stripper specific gowns that works for us better than anything you could find in the prom section is...

    1. They are stretchy and easy to get on/off.
    2. They are durable and will withstand everyday abuse.
    3. No zippers, boning, etc. Just structured spandex.

no need to sound snotty, we understood what you were saying... of course there are finds, and crossovers, etc. The point was (as Viola said) IN GENERAL there are discrepancies that should start one searching in a different place.

Wha?? You pick ONE dress from Macys.com and that's your proof? Go into the store and you'll see what I mean. If not there, then Deb's or Dillards...they are there. I've witnessed it myself.

I liek that alot. I'd hate to spend all that money on a gown though. Especially cause the more something costs, the more guys dont' like it...

I went to the Dillards where I baught all my actual high school prom dresses (one of which I'm kicking myself for donating cause it would have been PERFECT for work) and there were far more sexy/skanky dresses than fluffy princess gowns. My arm was breaking from all the non-zippered, un-corseted, spandex gowns I found.

And I'm pretty sure all the high schools in the area arn't ghetto...they're freakin rich bitch schools.

    ^
I like your theory on the more something costs the less it works. My dress cost me slightly more than one lapdance, including tax, so in that theory I'll be banking in it ASAP!

Things to keep in mind: I think the biggest things that makes you stand out at a gown club is...

    1. Jewelry. When you're naked it's nice if you're still decorated. Rhinestones for life.
    2. Color. Unless you're the hottest girl at the club, don't wear black. Everyone wears black. Stand out. Wear red, lavender, silver lame, canary yellow, turquoise, etc.
    3. Tans (fake or real, your choice) really help.
    4. Your hair. It needs to be super sexy, because most of you is covered most of the time.

    Happy hunting!
