So, I posted my giddy "oh my God I got hired!" post yesterday, and I called back today as the housemom told me to do to get my scheduling done, and the other woman went to check my file and told me "It says you're not hired." I thought I'd heard wrong so I said..."Oh...I don't...think that's possible. The lady I auditioned for last night told me that I was great and could work three shifts a week, and to call you!" The woman said "There's nothing else on the note, so I don't know why it says that...call me back tomorrow."
Of course, I couldn't wait, since I was having a complete meltdown while at work, so I called back, and this time she said, "Honestly, we tell all girls they're hired until they leave the building. It's because we're such bad liars and you can tell in our faces when we're lying. Housemoms don't even have hiring/firing power." Then she said, "The note says 'Never danced before,' so it's probably because you're not experienced. Go work somewhere else and call back in a couple of weeks."
WHAT? I don't know if that's industry standard, but that seems incredibly unprofessional and cruel to me. I would so much rather have gotten an honest, "We'll let you know tomorrow," or even an immediate "You're not hired because you're too _____" than a definite "Yes" which was actually a complete lie.
I'm going to go audition elsewhere tonight but I was really shocked at the way the ladies handled my situation. I mean, all they needed to say was "You need a little work on your dancing," or "We don't really need any inexperienced girls right now"...telling me "You looked great up there, you're hired" seems ridiculous if it's untrue!
