    Default Stiches from BA

I had a BA a bit more than a yr ago and my scars have healed well. However, it seems like I still have a piece of the stiches under my left boob...It feels a bit hard and looks a black-blue ish color..

They were suposed to get out by themselves, but I think that small one got cought in there, how do I get it out?? Has this ever hapened to anyone? It's not a big deal, I'm definately the only one to notice it but I would still like to get it out one day...

I would say ask your surgeon, I actually have a little bit of a stitch sticking out of my left areola (my BA was only 4 wks ago though) but it was one of the ones that dissolves I think and they told me to do warm compresses, and I have, but it's still there and hasnt "broken off" or w/e yet. I have an appointment in a week so I'm just waiting until then to see what he says. But yeah, if it's under the skin, you definately don't want to try to do it yourself and risk infection and who knows what else, ya know?

Go and see your doctor. When my bf had surgery on his knee a bit of stiching was left in and it caused a horrendous infection. I'd go and get it seen to asap.

Go to your dr. At my 1 month checkup the dissolvables in 3 spots were still exposed and hard. He had to pull them and cut them out. It's common. The dissolvable stitches need bodily fluid to help them dissolve. If they were exposed to the air then they can't dissolve. That's what was told to me by a vet when I was a tech. I assume it's the same. He'll just have to take suture removal scissors and take it out.I would go, they can get infected.

I had a few stitches that were poking out too. He just cut them and they were good to go.

I have a small bit of a stitch under my scar on my nipple. It's just a little squiggle. I can see it, but it doesn't bother me and certainly never got infected.

I know a woman who found a stitch in her nose 15 years after her rhinoplasty. She pulled it out herself, so they certainly can last that long. I agree with the others to go to your doctor and get it checked out.
