    Default Starting my Gluten/Dairy-Free Diet!

In hopes of doing something good for my skin and my body in general... I'm going to try to eat Gluten and Dairy-Free. I had a love affair with Sonic fast food during this last week when I was at Bonnaroo (thank god they don't have Sonic where I live!) Now that I have returned, I know I have to keep on track, I feel like crap from all that food! I went shopping since my fridge was empty from not being home... and I bought everything free from gluten/dairy. In addition to starting this food plan, I am also starting another P90X cycle.

Here is my food plan for today:

    Breakfast:
    1 cup gluten-free rice cereal
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
    1 cup fresh blueberries
    1 bottle of water
1 8oz cup of organic green tea with 1tsp. raw organic honey

    Vitamins:
    Vitamin B-Complex
    Vitamin C with Bioflavanoids
Oil Combo: Fish, Flax, EPO and Borage
    Vitamin A
    Vitamin E

    Lunch:

    Omelet
6 egg whites w/ 1 cup frozen spinach, 1/2 cup mushrooms, 2 slices mozzarella flavored rice cheese
    1 banana
    1 bottle of water
8oz cup of organic green tea with 1tsp. raw organic honey

    Vitamins:
    Vitamin B-Complex
    Vitamin C with Bioflavanoids
Oil Combo: Fish, Flax, EPO and Borage
    Zinc

    Dinner:
1 tilapia fillet w/ 1tbsp EVOO and lemon juice on George Forman grill
salad w/ 2 cups spinach and organic field greens, tomatoes, cucumbers and carrots
2 tbsp Bragg's organic vinaigrette dressing
    1 sweet potato
    1 bottle of water
1 WiseAcre Frost Tea: Jasmine Green Tea or Yerba Mate

    Vitamins:
    Vitamin B-Complex
    Vitamin C with Bioflavanoids
Oil Combo: Fish, Flax, EPO and Borage
    Chromium Picolinate

    Dessert:
Organic Rice Devine in chocolate peanut butter fudge

    Here's to staying on track!

This diet looks so good. I should really start one like this, too! Can you post up all your basic essential foods (like in grocery list form)?

If you want ideas, check out Oprah's diet right now. It is dairy/gluten free.

^^^ Awesome idea! Looks like I'm takin' tips from Oprah!

To SexKitten... Here is what I bought yesterday (I still have my shopping list!)

-Fresh berries (usually strawberries or blueberries) or frozen if not in season.
    -Bananas
-Apples, nectarines, kiwi or oranges (whatever looks good and as much as you want)
    -Cherry tomatoes
    -Cucumbers
    -Baby bella mushrooms
    -Organic baby carrots
-Fresh spinach and/or mixed filed greens
    -Sweet potatoes
-Organic hummus (traditional flavor or whatever you fancy)
    -Rice cheese (grated and slices)
    -Gluten free rice cereal
-Unsweetened Vanilla Almond or Rice Milk
    -Flaxseed bread
-Fresh chicken (boneless/skinless, perfect for the George Foreman!)
-Fresh fish (if I'm eating it that day or the next)
-Frozen fish for the rest of the week (I don't shop everyday)
-Rice ice cream (there are a ton of brands, I like Organic Rice Devine)
-Frozen Green Tea popsicles by Wise Acre (they are the best!)
-Basic things I always have like olive oil, pepper, sea salt, organic green tea, raw honey, Bragg's vinaigrette (whatever I'm low on and need to restock)

Most of the amounts I buy last for the week. But I obviously don't buy all of these things at once. I did yesterday only because I was pretty much out of everything in the house. I go shopping a couple times a week for most of these things. I substitute different vegetables and fruits based on what I want or what looks good. I hope this helps!!

I am doing the vegetarian/dairy/gluten free diet right now. I spent sooo much money in groceries last night. I need to work on being healthier because lately my staples have been taco bell and protein bars. Not exactly good for me. I'm using your menu and Oprah's for inspiration. :-)

me too!!!! well i'm already vegan, but i'm cutting out wheat starting this week and easing into a 30 day juice feast. I bought some really yummy gluten free/dairy free macaroni and cheese (made w/ brown rice and lentils) and had some raw flax seed crackers with hummus and cucumber yesterday. my family thinks i've really lost it now that i'm cutting out wheat too, in addition to already being vegan and trying to go raw... but it's a lot healthier! so many people have wheat allergies and dont even know it.

^^ My family is freaking too!! Haha. I went over to their house last night for dinner... and I brought my own food! I told them that I was now gluten free (been dairy free for a little while.) They were open to hearing my reasons and the facts I had for them... but they still looked at me like I was insane!! My Mom then asked me about the making of almond milk:

"So how do they milk the almond?"

    I almost died laughing.

I really think that gluten/dairy free is going to be a good thing for me. I haven't been doing it for more than a week but I already love it!

Awesome! I've been a vegan for years... I don't eat any meat, gluten, dairy, processed food, sugar or carbohydrates that aren't complex. You will feel much better!

A good friend of mine has celiac disease so she must follow this diet. I seem to bloat after eating wheat and dairy products so while I am not diagnosed, I should be following something like this.

Anyway I copied and pasted this from her email to me...

    Enjoy!

i went all raw today... except for my spirulina/soy protein powder, dont think that's raw.

i had a orange juice/strawberry smoothie for breakfast,a larabar for a snack, a hemp milk/spirulina/soy protein powder smoothie for lunch, and a spinach/cucumber/avocado salad w/ lemon juice as dressing for dinner.

i feel fine, except for i have had a constant stomach ache for the past three days, i think it's all the medicine i was on, including antibiotics. yuck.

oh and i have a headache, but it's only been three days going without wheat, so it's probably eye strain or something.

I'm so happy there are more people who are as committed as I am to a lifestyle like this. It motivates me to stick with it. Ahmeerah, I think I am feeling the withdrawl... I had a headache yesterday and just wasn't feeling well. I know its a good thing for me though, because there is no way I am going back to the way I was eating before!

^^The Sex Kitten, I would definitely be interested in some recipes!!

Wow! Thanks for starting this thread... I really really need to look into the gluten free stuff. I've kind of been in denial about it, but anytime I eat bread lately my stomach gets very upset and I get bloated...even my cheeks swell up...I think I have developed a gluten allergy, motherfuckitalltohell.

i ate kashi cereal today.. but... it was the only thing i ate. i was feeling too sad to eat and it's the only thing that appealed to me at all. it made my stomach feel better though, so it can't be that bad.

Good Luck, I've been on a gluten-free diet for about 7 months now. I cheat every now and again, but since I have a serious food allergy to wheat I stay consistent with the diet. My friends don't see how it's possible for me to follow such a strict food plan and going out to eat can be alittle tricky, but you'll get the hang of it and your body will thank you. It also helps if you're taking a pro-biotic. This is one vitamin no one should live without...

We're all (my family) gluten free! We were dairy free too for a long time because it gave us really bad reactions, but it seems being gluten free for long enough has healed our guts enough to be able to deal with dairy without any issues. I can't believe how much better I am emotionally/mentally from being gluten free. I'm a different person. I can always tell if I had a sneak attack of hidden gluten because the next morning my face is puffed up, i have dark circles under my eyes and weigh about 7 lbs more.
