Love it!! Get it with the shading.
Love it!! But get it without the shading.
I hate tattoos/put it somewhere else/keep working on it

i'm just starting an armband in chinese of my kids names. 3-kids x 3-characters = 9-characters strung around the upper arm like a tribal band.
hey, get what you want. it's going on your body, not someone else's. like the others said it's what's important to you.
although i also strongly side with colette's comment about an asian guy always explaining an africa tattoo on his back. oh, it's an icebreaker definitely but i'm willing to bet that'll get boring after the 500th time it's asked. and then what are you going to do after the first week?![]()
Love the idea- but the whole continent of Africa might be too much...It might look funny when you flex your shoulder. I vote an altered design of the flag's sun or some script.

another idea- are there any regional stories/folklore with characters that might serve as a basis for a tattoo? I know Egyptian/Nigerian myths/legends/creation stories (and gods/goddesses etc) often serve as the basis for many 'traditional' inspired tattoos.
But year, like snoopy said- get what you want. I'm just trying to encourage a tattoo that incorporates political awareness as well. Tattoos are TRADItionally about meaning, after all (I know yours is) and I wouldn't want you to end up regretting yours once you realize it holds a significance for many people other than yourself, or could be offensive, etc.

This is awesome!! Thanks everyone for the creative and helpful suggestions. This is going to be fun brainstorming for ideas.

why can't you get kanji? i'm asian too.![]()
yeah, there's the whatever bad luck theories and such about kanji on your body and the overall "bad person" thing but meh. like i give a fig.![]()
i already have one large kanji on one arm, "te" or roughly translated as "righteousness/morality/ethics/etc."
i was thinking of a tribal band design of some sort on the other arm at first but settled on the names theme because they're the most important things in my life.![]()
