Snuff, the newest Palahniuk novel, has anyone read it yet? I want to read it but the waiting list at my library is rather long. Is it worth buying? I'm a big Palahniuk fan.

It looks promising, Alessandra...
Picked it up at Reagan National in Virginia a couple of days ago. It's somewhat slender by Pahlaniuk standards--208 pages in hardcover, with large font--and I'm saving it for a July trip (I've been reading his books on planes recently because they shorten the flight).
It was $24.95 less 15% at the airport Borders store, but some chains might offer you a deeper discount on the hardcover release.
Ah, I'm waiting for it to go paperback here. I JUST finished Rant and was pretty impressed. Not my favorite but it wasn't a let down either.

It was pretty good, but not my favorite of his books.
My expectations may have been a little high since I had been chomping at the bit to get my hands on it.

i've heard fairly bad things about it, and i'm a HUGE palahniuk fan.
i've read:
haunted
fight club
survivor
choke
rant
diary
and if i had to rank them in order from favorite to least (on a scale of 1-10) it would look like this -
survivor - 10
fight club -10
choke - 9
rant - 8 (aside from the last 1/4 of the book, it would have been a 9)
diary - 6
haunted - 5 (there are entertaining PARTS to the book in the form of side stories, of which some are 9's and 10's... but the overall plot itself is seriously a 2 or 3)
i still need to read invisible monsters and lullaby.
Ohhhh Lullaby is my favorite... But so is Diary so. Different strokes I guess haha.
I liked Haunted, the plot was pretty lame but I kinda liked the message.

oh my god, read survivor.

rant had such good feel and parts to it. i -love- the whole "party crashing" thing. it's just that, once it all starts "coming together" it just.............. doesn't.
those of you who've read it know what i mean.

^^^ I felt the same way towards the end of Snuff. When he tried to 'wrap things up', it just didn't quite work for me.
Of course, I am a huge fan so I have come to expect too much..

i picked up lullaby today. i was -going- to get invisible monsters, but borders was out. i needed both anyway *shrug*.
i love survivor, lullaby was.....boring.
those are the onyl 2 i have read i really need to get fight club since i love the movie.

I haven't read the new one yet, but I couldn't get into "Rant" at ALL. I tried, but it was just boring, IMO. I liked Lullaby the most, I think. The only one I haven't read is "Survivor".
Oh, there's a movie for "Choke" coming out, with Sam Rockwell and Angelica Huston. Looks not bad. http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi1843855641/
waffles are just pancakes with little squares on them.

Yay---more Palahniuk fans!
Anjuli, would you still recommend buying Snuff after reading it? I don't have a ton of extra money, and I hate buying books and being disappointed. At least if its a library copy, it can go right back!
I've read all his books, and my favs are Fight Club and Survivor. Invisible Monsters was pretty decent as well.
Do you guys always buy the book you want to read or do you ever use the library? I'm not being a smartass, I really want to know. The library is the first thing I think of when I hear of a book I want to read. I just can't drop $25.00 every time a new one comes out.

Alessandra - I would suggest getting it from the library first (except at mine there was a looooong waiting list). But, on the other hand, as a fan, I probably would have ended up buying the book anyway, maybe in paperback though.
Or maybe get it from a third party seller on amazon.com... you can usually get it cheaper that way. The list price on amazon is a lot cheaper than what I paid at Borders.

FYI, y'all, he gave (and then abruptly ended) an interview to the Advocate a couple months ago. Good stuff; check it out.
