Richmond Va native girl here!
We're a city with a lot of history, Capital of the Confederacy, Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown near by.
Three great schools, the University of Richmond (good law school), Virginia Commonwealth University and the Medical College of Virginia.
There are great urban areas to live, The Fan is very eclectic, very artsy, lots of cool local shops and eateries, almost all the apartments are huge old house converted into living spaces. Church Hill is very cool too, old and historic (home of Patrick Henry's "give me liberty.." speech) Away from the city there are great urban living areas, Henrico and Chesterfield.
Richmond is only about an hour and a half from the ocean, the mountains and Washington DC.
So come on down to RVA, I'll be your personal tour guide!
Any other questions let me know!
Texas isn't the South. Texans and Southerners alike will correct you on that one! Texas is its own entity and has nothing to do with us Southerners, although there are a few incidentals that we happen to have in common.
Austin rocks.
Dallas sucks.
Houston sucks.
Memphis used to rock, but local government is running it into the ground. It's still fun though.
Nashville is undergoing a revival and turning into a cool town. Not quite there yet.
Knoxville rocks. Great weather, gorgeous scenery, cool little college town in the hills.
Don't know anything about the other cities on your list.
