OMG. Im still trembling. My daughter was missing. She went to a friends place around 1130 this morning after asking permission. I went over there so we could go to the store. I knock on the door. No answer. I ring the doorbell. No answer. I start POUNDING on the door. No answer. I go to the other 2 neighbors homes who her friends live at and ask if theyve seen her. NO. I ask my neighbor Brian (who works here) if hes seen her. No. I pound on the door AGAIN. No answer. Brian starts pounding on the door and tries to call. Disconnected.
20 minutes later Im on the phone reporting a missing child. Call my dad, mom and husband who all come over. A firetruck pulls up along with a Community Service truck and 3 police cars. They ask me a ton of questions then they go over to the door of the friend and pound - no answer. Cops start searching the neighborhood - along with the firemen.
The cop is asking me if shes run away before and I kept saying she didnt run away! Im feeling like the most horrible person ever and then Im thinking "does he think i have something to do with her being gone?!" And Im crying and its another 30 minutes later of searching and more photos and descriptions and calling all her friends homes and going to every apartment here.
My dad goes back over to the friends home and pounds on the door until the deadbold busts open and breaks the door. She was there and now shes crying when she walks out and sees the cops and firemen and all him.
So shes home now. And weve just had a long discussion and Im searching for child GPS monitors online. If I had one I would have KNOWN she was there and not have had to call the cops.
When she came in I was so scared and relieved and I yelled at her "Where were you?! Why didnt anyone answer the door?!?!?" And then I got reprimanded by the cop. I dont yell at my child, ever. I was just so worried. And she did nothing wrong. She was where she said she would be. I still dont get how she can say "nobody heard the knocking" when it wasnt knocking. My dad BROKE the doorjam. I'll be paying for that to be fixed along with a red light ticket if my dad gets one for running 2 red lights on the way over.
Its just so scary to think your child can be next to you one minute and gone the next. Im still crying even to shes right next to me on the couch watching cartoons.
