Default What I Don't like about coconut oil

So I took the advice of all of you and went out and bought some of the stuff, and you're right, it works like magic. My skin feels amazing, it smells wonderful, my cuticles have never looked better and my hair has a great shine to it.

Only thing is, it gets all over my stuff! I made the mistake of crawling into bed after applying some all over my body, and now my sheets have an oily stain on them, as well as my couch and a few shirts. That crap does NOT come out. Anyone else have this problem? Know of any ways to remove oil stains?

However, it is pretty amazing, so I suppose you take the good with the bad...Just a rant...

And now it's all over my computer keyboard....great.... lol

I never had that problem, probably because I only ever put it on in the shower, rinsed and dried off. I never put it on outside of that. I do notice if I don't rinse my hair well enough I get a bit of residue on the pillow case, but it always washes out.

eh-- I stain most everything, and haven't really noticed anything directly attributed to coconut oil-- mostly because I put it on before pj's or before putting on jeans.

I did try the shaving with coconut oil trick and didn't like that-- but other than that, still second only to duct tape.

I do mine in the bath too - rub it in and rinse in the shower, then towel-dry. I still get the softness, but no oily residue.

hmm..I do mine after I get out of the bath. I dry off just lightly, rub the oil all over, then wrap in a towel and sit for a half hour or so and let it soak in before i get dressed. i havent had an oily residue on anything

I would do the shower thing as well. Rinsing it off will help rid the oil that is not already saturated in your skin.

If the oil got on some of your clothes, put some talc on it for a few hours and let it soak up. Then shake the powder off and throw it in the wash. I always do this if I get some oil on my clothes and it works like magic.

Yup, I let it sit for about 10 minutes or so before patting dry with a towel. I'm pretty sure your skin can only absorb so much anyway, and the rest just sits there.

I always lightly oil my hair before braiding it then going to bed.

I also got a magic bullet and put an avocado, coconut oil, and a spoonful or two of honey and make a foot mask and slather it on my feet, wrap em, and let em sit for a few hours, then rinse em off and they are soft as newborn baby feet.

Awesome...thanks guys. I think I will rub it in in the shower and rinse it off- sounds like the good way to go.

Lexi- What is Talc and where can I get it? I'm not really sure what that is. I ruined one of my body pillows on my bed from the oil stain, and if talc gets it out I'd love you forever!

it's a mini blender/juicer that you see on infomercials all the time in the states.

Yup talc is talcum powder. Or Baby powder.

Your best bet is to do it as soon as it happens. I know its been a few days now, so it might not work as well. Give it a try anyway.
