    Default Learning Sign Language

So recently I've taken up an interest in sign language. As I have Asperger's Syndrome, it was recommended to me to learn some basics as I have a hard time expressing whats on my mind orally. However, I don't know where to start. I looked around for classes, but short of ones at my Uni (which is not an option right now) there are none. I thought about possibly trying a Book+DVD combo as a start, but I wondered if anyone had suggestions.

    Anyone?

You might see if there's a school for the deaf in your area. Also, call the Social Services department in your city. I'm sure they'll know of some deaf resources you could contact.

Good for you! Sign language rocks!
I learned the signing alphabet when I was a little girl, and I've learned the language from a book and a fellow dancer. Books with lots of pictures work great for sign language.

I sign the lyrics to the songs while I dance on stage. It gets a lot of attention and helps me practice.

    Awesome!!

My friend taught me a little ASL in college. I remember it's very important to sign a lot and really helps when you can sign with other people. Community college classes would probably be great and I remember there was a local coffee shop where deaf/mute/other people would go and just hang out on Friday/Saturday nights or something. She found out about that through class tho.

You can get the basics at http://commtechlab.msu.edu/sites/aslweb/browser.htm.

Also, see if there are any students at your school that is willing to teach you sign language. A lot of those types of courses have some kind of tutoring/teaching reqs. Especially if student is looking to enter into some kind of educational field.
