I have them. I think a few from time to time are considered "normal" but if they are bugging you then you definately should get them checked.

I've got them. The eye doctor told me not to worry about them unless I start to notice more, than let him know.

whats an eye floater?

i've had them for the last 10 years. i almost had a heart attack the first time i noticed one. i've been to the eye doctor several times over the last 10 years and (like southst. said) i've always been told to just ignore it unless i suddenly notice a lot more or start getting "flashes" with it.
most of the population has them. i don't even notice them anymore unless i pay attention or i'm looking at the sky or a light colored wall.

You should get them checked out. I thought eye floaters could be a symptom of a serious eye disease?

as a few of us have already mentioned, they are usually just a symptom of completely normal break down of the jelly-like fluid within your eye. it creates shadows that you can see. MOST of the time they are harmless.
it's always recommended to get them checked out when you very fist notice them because they -can- be a symptom of retinal detachment (which is very serious) or other diseases. after being checked out, the doctor will just tell you to keep an eye on it (ha! puns!).
as long as they don't get suddenly very worse, no new symptoms occur with them, and you're getting checked-out regularly, you should be fine.
I have a couple floaters that recently developed (as in, last 4 years). It freaked me way out when I first noticed them....at first I thought they were little black bugs and started swatting at them (thankfully no one else was around!)

I get them. Especially right before migraines (ie "seeing auras")
I would like to thank everyone who answered, I did go to my eye doctor and got my eyes checked and everything was fine except the floater, which he said is normal and not to worry about it, but still it's annoying, but thank you once again for all who answered![]()

I still remember the first time I noticed them. I was in the shower and I thought I kept seeing gnats flying in front of my face. After swatting at them for a couple minutes and never hitting them, I figured out they weren't gnats lol!
^^^
I get them in the shower too!! Like, it almost looks like you're seeing stars or something...mine go away in like 20 seconds or so, but it is trippy!
I also used to get this when I worked in a REALLY REALLY dark club...
i used to get them from tanning with no goggles. it took mine like 2 years to go away. but i never noticed them unless it was really sunny.

Yeah, it is kinda like seeing stars...except they move! Hey, shooting stars! I wonder what it is about the shower though![]()

Maybe this is what I see when I"m looking into the microscope at school. It looks like floating eyelashes, well sort of:p
I get the shooting shower stars too! like for 10 seconds there'll be little points of light with tails that move randomly around.. I couldn't figure it out why it was always the shower until I realized I was getting them when I washed my ass. If you keep your eyes in an extreme position like looking at your armpits (shaving) for more than a few seconds that's when you'll get them.
hyzenthflay - Yeah! They are kinda fuzzy looking on the edges.
There are two kinds - a literally floating type and a fixed position type. I think they surgically remove the second type if they grow too large and you get like a black hole in your vision. Otherwise meh![]()
