    Angry Lame tickets

I was trying to figure out if my car was legal to drive with a broken windsheild wipper. Turns out it's not. And no matter how legal and safe you think you're being, you're wrong. This is the reason so many people dislike cops. It's more depressing than reading TUSCL. And damn it! I'm one of those people who got the "failure to change address" tickets

Ugh..I"ve gotten 2 seeding tickets when there was NO WAY I was speeding. One I saw the cop ahead, checked my speedomenter and was going EXACTLY the limit..he tried to say I was going 20 over. I had a witness saying that wasnt true AND he got my name AND the date wrong on the ticket....they wouldnt throw it out. Fuckers.

Another time I was in literally bumper to bumper traffic barely moving....cop said I was FLYING through. Not even a little bit possible. Unless I had a god dammed hovercar or something...traffic was barely moving.

    Wow.

Did anyone else notice the main reason for getting the ticket? - BAD ATTITUDE. I am never rude to cops when Im pulled over. Im very nice and have gotten out of many many tickets. When youre an asshole to them they'll ding ya.

I've never had an attitude, but I have a bad habit of giggling and telling lame jokes when I'm nervouse.

I got pulled over for having a tail light out and the cop said, "You could get rammed in the back. No one can see you!" Me, laughing nervously, "But you did!" Lucky he got the bad joke and let me off with a fix it ticket.

And when I got pulled over for expired tags it was the same freaking day they expired. I sadly sang "Happy Birthday to me," and he just laughed and let me go.

Other than that, they've been pretty harsh.

Right after I started driving I got pulled over driving home one night... going obscenely over the speed limit. I was really nice to the cop, told her I knew I was an idiot and she knocked 8 mph off the ticket.

It still cost me $300. I never go that fast anymore. I learned my lesson.

QFT. I was pulled over awhile back for a broken tail light. I was polite and respectful to the officer and he was the same back--didn't even ask for my info. He told me that I had a light out and he could give me a ticket, but to just get it fixed.

I've gotten my share of speeding tickets even with a good attitude, but good attitude goes a long way with law enforcement when it comes to minor infractions.

Oh and Ill say yea, even tho Im nice some cops are just jerks, in a bad mood, or someone else already made them mad and I got that attitude from them and got the ticket. I dont get out of ALL tickets but Ive gotten 3 tickets in 10 years and Ive been pulled over many more than that.

QFT to you too! I had the same thing happen to me when I had a tail light out. But :knocksonwood: that was the only time I was pulled over. Some cops expect you to be jerks so when you're polite and respectful and do the things that make them feel safe (turn your hazards on; turn the car engine off; pull over far enough; keep your hands visible; etc) they're not horrible.

Unfortunately I have the habit of starting to bawl when cops are around. I can't help it, they scare me!

I've always been nice...I have friends in law enforcement so I know! But somehow cops are always dicks to me(well..not always...the cop who pulled me over for speeding ina school zone..which I was totally doing..was REALLY nice to me when my too large dress slipped down and my boobs popped out!!LOL)

One cop in Brigantine pulled me over for speeding on the bridge(theres a bridge that connects Brig to Atlantic City). Now I am terrified of bridges. I'm better now then I was..but still white knuckled. I NEVER EVER EVER speed over them...I drive like a granny on xanax! He walked up, THREW the ticket in my window and said "go ahead and fucking fight it if you want"

OOOOO....I had a friend at the time who was a law student working in the courthouse. He found out what judge I was up against and told me he was a total perv...and that if I wore something leather and lowcut I'd get off. Yep. Black leather shirt and form fitting white top that JUST showed a hint of my bra outline under it. He threw it out of court 100%!!!

Funny story about clueless cops though....I used to work on call overnight for the hospital. Driving home on a deserted road at 4am after an emergency surgery. I'm in hospital scrubs COVERED in blood.
Cop pulls me over for driving in the left hand lane. HE also proceeds to lecture me about how I have a bolt missing on my license plate and he could writ eme up for that and blah blah blah
No ticket and he never even asks why I am covered in blood. I could have just gone on a killing spree and have 12 bodies in the trunk...but I'll get right on fixing that misssing bolt yes sir!!

^^Holy shit, I have the same problem with bridges! I started crying while crossing the GWB the other day. Hate Hate HATE THEM.

And yeah, that's stupid. I would definitely ask someoen why they were soaked in blood... unless he saw the scrubs? A fucking screw out of the license plate? Driving in the left lane? laaaaaaaaaaaame.

^^ Lol! I had a big bag of syringes on my lap once when I got pulled over. It was medication for my lizard, but the cop who pulled me over didn't seem to notice the needles or the uromastyx.

A friend of mine that is in LE gives me the PBA cards that are confiscated. So whenever I get pulled over, it gets taken away, and I put a new one in the wallet. No biggie for me since I have more. Unfortunately, it only really works in NJ since most other states could care less about some NJ PBA card.

awwww..I LOVE uromastyx!! they look like ET! We had one in the shop I worked at in college and he was just the sweetest thing...I"d put him on my shoulder and carry him all day with me. He'd snuggle into my hair and sleep! I wasnted to buy him so much, but I already at the time had 3 big dogs, 7 birds, 2 hamsters,a guinea pig and a rat...plus 2 large tanks of fish. So I didnt think I'd have the time to devote to him that he deserved!!

    Sorry..t/j over!

PBA is the patrolman benevolent association. The union for a lot of cops in NJ. They get cards to give to family and friends of theirs that basically you give when pulled over. Sometimes they carry no weight, but for minor things they let you slide. One practice a lot have is that when they let you slide they keep the card. Supposed to mail it back to the other cop. I guess the thought is that if they keep the card, you lost your get out of ticket free card.

I'm used to them by now..but if you notice next time we go(if you want to go again) my hands stay glued to the steering wheel and I'm all tense..esp over the 7 mile bridge!

^^ I get nervous driving over the Bay Bridge. I always think to when there was the big earthquake and the bridge collapsed. I always feel ok going TO SF but on the way back I think - if there was a quake the top would collapse and kill me. Scary.

Yes! Cops pull people over for VERY stupid reasons, headlight/taillight out, etc. My 33 yr old friend even got pulled over after work one night at 3 a.m. and the guy said she looked like she was too young and out past curfew! But cops can give out warnings instead of tickets. Respect and courtesy can go a long way.

    That's just horrifying.

It's more nerve wracking than ever now - but I'm going to keep that to myself because you seem to be handling it really well now. I just hate heights. Hate 'em.
