Default Ah! Help me devise a sneaky plan!

I'm going out of town and need to devise a plan to keep my roommates guests out of my room while I'm gone. The door lock doesn't work and I'm leaving tomorrow morning, no time for hardware store locks.

Help? I was thinking of throwing a lot of shit on the bed in a pattern I'd notice and making it VERY clear nobody is supposed to be in my room. Any other ideas?

Put a spider or a cockroach in your room. Believe me, no woman would want to enter a room with a creepy crawly inside!

The roommate is a guy, the guests are guys, and I don't want them fucking random hoodrats in there while I'm gone. That means they're going to be beyond drunk when they come in my room and prob not even notice a bug.

I'm beginning to think I'm not going to be able to keep them out, so how can I rig something to at least KNOW if they're in my bed?

You could always wet a hair and put it over your door crack, that way you can tell if someones been in. At least that was what we did when we were kids lol
You could always crease you bed sheets a certain way ,then you will know if the creases are gone somone has been in your bed.

Hahaha...with a little bit of manly ingenuity, I have devised a plan! A FOOLPROOF one!

Lock the door, and then when I come back, unscrew the doorknob and unlock it from the inside. WHOOOOO! (The problem with the lock is that I didn't have a key that worked the lock, not that there wasn't one)

Or you could say you're going away to get treatment for body lice. Or aids. Or something.

But that's probably bad juju. LOL

A doorknob with a key that works is less than ten bucks at Home Depot. Take the old one along, and you can find one that will fit in the old hardware in the door, no new drilling. Then all you have to do is slip the new doorknob in, and you have a door that locks.

You could take a picture of your room was before you left. Put things in a certain way and snap. When you come back you'll compare the before picture to the after.

I would put posted notes all over the say "get the fuck out."

leave tape on the ground and tape white paper together in mass quantity, if somebody steps on it it will wrinkle and be dirty. leave objects out that would embarrasses and scare away intruders.

None of this advice really stops people from coming in... just shows signs if they did.

The fact you distrust your roomies that much is a sgn you should move out D:

I'd put a huge sign on the door like this...

if you have dark sheets sprinkle them with baby powder in a pattern, that way you will know if anyone lays down

You may not need to buy a whole new lock. Take the doorknob with the lock in it to Home Depot and ask them to re-key the lock. If it's a brand they support, they'll replace the tumblers and give you new keys.

While you're at home depot, pick up a few dozen mouse traps (they're cheap). Then set them and place them all around your room. When you're all set to leave, unscrew the lightbulbs in any lighting fixtures so that the room will be dark. If anyone comes in..... SURPRISE!

Sucks to be in that situation where you don't trust your roomie. I'm surprised no one has thought of this.....

Tell your GUY roommate that your GAY friend is sleeping in your room and tends to get grabby. He's free to go in and hang out but don't get mad if he gets taken advantage of

that's what I was going to tell you to do I did it a few times last year after my sketchy roommate stole money from me. If you're going to be living there with him for awhile though, you might want to just get a new doorknob when you get back.
