Default dealing with a torn knee ligament?

Back in 7th grade I tore my knee ligament and it has never really healed, I basically have a floating knee cap...I cant run or jump or it will pop out and be very painful but sometimes it just pops out on its own (like the other day) and I do not know the best way to prevent this while still being a stripper...does anyone else have this problem? How do you deal/prevent it???

I have a similar issue with mine because the tendons running over my kneecap are too long allowing my knee cap to wander around. (It's a weird genetic goof. my son has the same issue.)

If you do exercises like sitting leg raises it will strenghten the muscle in your thigh above the knee cap which helps to stabilize the knee.
