Default Help my cover is almost blown

Wow do I need some advise to get out of this sticky situation.

My family thinks I work at a regular night club. I couldnt even say I was a waitress at a strip club coz they are that strict.

Anyway my godmother who is also my dad's cousin's wife just phoned me and asked if I could help my 18 year old cousin a job as a waitress at the night club (18 is legal drinking age here). I was a bit surprised and I said yes I would ask if there were any jobs going. Then she said that my cousin could drop her resume in to work.

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK. What do I do?

I cant admit that I work at a strip club coz then it will get back to my parents. I dont want to seem like I dont want her to work with me either.

Should I just say I asked and there aren't any jobs?

Now I'm panicking that they will go to the club (the club I pretend to work at) and mention me and the people there wont know who they are talking about.

I need advise for how to smooth this over without getting busted.

Telling my family the truth is 100% not an option.

Does she have her RSA? She need her RSA!

That should buy you a week at least.

No coz I already said I dont have my RSA ages ago. At my work the waitresses dont need to have it only the bar staff.

She was a tad weird about it saying "You dont have to do this if u dont feel comfortable with her working with you".Oh dear this is disasterous. Fucking lies, I'm so sick of the lies!!

OMG the bar... it won't hire people who are related, you just asked! Something about 'work place drama' and 'stupid laws'!

^^ That or you asked and they're swamped, got resumes out the door and only want folks with lots of experience.

The "lots of experience" thing will probably be most believable!! Say something like, well they are looking for someone with 2 years experience so they don't have to train them as much, since its a busy place. Then, a few weeks later, "quit" the job and go to "work" somewhere where you can't be visited!!! (Like a telemarketing place)

Possibly say they don't hire friends or family of current employees because they don't want cliques to form ?

Or ....tips have been awful ? You are thinking of leaving anyway and she shouldn't work there since clients have moved to a new club ?

I'll try to think of others.

Do all of the above, then say they're not hiring because it's been so slow. Your club had really taken a hit with these gas prices.

If they haven't given a resume yet, I would say you asked about it and they said they won't hire without previous club experience plus they said that family can't work together. She should try (some other club) instead, they might be hiring.

If they did go in and asked about you, you can always say that they probably didn't know you because you don't know anyone on that shift.

Tell her to come in EARLY (assuming you work nights at your real club) so that makes sense. Plus it'll be too busy, and the resume will just get lost if you com in at night.

I would have just told them "no" ahhah.

Is your cousin cool? Maybe you can talk with her and she would help. Maybe she would even want to waitress or dance in a strip club.

    I don't know about this

sometimes people aren't so good at keeping secrets.

But if you are close with your cousin, I'd call her up personally and say, "sorry, I wanted to help, but they aren't hiring...blah blah blah" you could even try to find another place for her to reply and recommend her bringing her res. there. That way it would probably deter her from waltzing into the club on her own, even if you did tell your aunt they aren't hiring.

Good luck. Don't sweat too much. You can get out of this and most likely there will be no issue. I went through a moment like this last year and was peeing my pants I was so nervous - but it all turned out all right. They still don't know, and i still have to lie .

Yeh I think ill just say I asked and they have just hired a bunch of new people so they aren't hiring for a while. What a drama!
Nah I wouldnt tell her the truth she is only 18 and she is very close with her mum so I think there would be a chance she would leak my secret.

Say something like, "I was going to ask, but just then one of the other waitresses asked just about the same thing and I thought they were going to fire her on the spot. They don't want friends or relatives of employees working there because they think they will goof off. I hate the place anyway; you'd be better off anywhere else."

"Why doesn't she just email it to me.... oh, right now they are only hiring people with more experience; I'll ask, but I wouldn't stop looking... maybe in a few months... yeah, in October Therese is leaving to move to Hong Kong and Eli is starting his M.A. so they might be in a less selective mood then; so if she hasn't found anything else by then, we'll try again."

Actually, IRL it is almost always a bad idea to help a relative get a job. What if that person turns out to be a total fuckup? Then everybody blames you. And if they need to be fired, then the boss has to weigh in the factor of how you will react.

I think it is very pushy and overbearing for your aunt to ask you to do this. And it would be even if you did work as a waitress in a regular bar.

Well... IRL this is pretty much how waitstaff gets hired. Friends and relatives of friends and relatives.
