I saw that. It kinda freaked me out. I know their stocks have not been doing so hot. They are kind of a luxury item.

yeah, i noticed that. but the stores around here don't seem to have had much of a dip.
they're closing underperforming stores that were largely built without considering location...stores too close to other stores and such, or in areas where people just aren't interested in buying coffee.
not like it would hurt to apply. and better to do it now, before fired people try migrating to other stores.
I'm really hoping they don't close the stores closest to me...... I will seriously bawl like a baby!

i get starbucks every once in a while. overpriced coffee, who needs it??

I agree w/ SSS... it's mostly in places where business has taken a huge dip due to local economic troubles... For example, Starbucks that were built to support areas of rapid home expansion where many people have been foreclosed upon... Places like San Bernardino & Riverside counties, outside of LA, or other places of recent expansion like near Vegas, in Tx, and Arizona. I wouldn't be too worried about SBX in other places...

I like Dunki8n Donuts better anyways. Sometimes, when I'm feeling daring, I'll get a coconut flavor shot.
I do indulge in overpriced coffee on my way to work. It gives me something to look forward to and something to drink on my hour long commute. Plus, it gives me energy! I would be devastated if either of the 2 Starbucks I go to shut down![]()

I actually read in Money Magazine that Starbucks is considered a good purchase.
Obviously it's cheaper to make it at home or buy from a gas station, but we all want to splurge. Unless you are really trying to cut corners, $4 is not that bad for a splurge. It makes you feel good, and money should be spent on stuff like that.
It was actually a pretty cool article that really revamped how I spend my money. Like clothes, cars....they don't make me feel good. Yeah, for like 3-4 months, but then I get tired of it and want more. Spending time with friends (i.e. throwing a party), traveling...never gets old, and the memories actually get better with time.
I still make my own because I hate actually going out of my way and waiting in a line, but I also broke down and got $600 worth of espresso making equipment. Still, paid for itself quickly.
I just drove by my local Starbucks and they have a big "accepting applications" sign out front.
Starbucks sucks ass.
TIM HORTONS = My love.
"Always fresh...alwayyyys Tiiiiiiim Hortons".
Starbucks is still gonna need employees... hate to say this... but a great business model is to let go of the old higher paid full time employees that get benefits and salaries... and grab onto some new hourly employees.

I miss the 24 hour Bigfoot Coffee stands in Seattle. Waaaah.![]()
